You would think after leaving the Cure Lol Tolhurst would waste away into nothing or come back with his own music and it would totally suck. In this case he did come back and came back on a ray of sunshine. After buying both of their albums I can't stop listening to them. Before you hear it you might think of the Cure because of Mr. Tolhurst but after the first track the Cure is the last thing on your mind. It's just brilliant. The only thing that I don't like about Levinhurst is that they don't have more albums but i'm sure that will change. Two Thumbs Up. Way Up!!!!!

Not The Cure - don't want it to be,

Expect no The Cure revival here, it's Lol Tolhurst but looking for his own sound, along with his wife Cindy's beautiful voice. This album proves finally that Lol can make music too. It doesn't discover new paths in music, it's simply beautiful, soothing, relaxing music to listen in a house by the sea, preferably at night with a loved one.

This album from Cure alumnus Laurence "Lol" Tolhurst is not bad, it is just not my favorite style of music. Gave it four stars due to being impressed that this former kicked-to-the-curb Cure mate managed to get it together and do some professional work of his own. That is cool. I do love the Cure btw, I'm just sayin'....There is little throwback to the reverby gothy haunting Cure sound, and that is the sound I was hoping for!, but I respect that Lol and wife are doing something they enjoy, even though it's not what a lot of people would expect or anticipate. To summarize the sound -- if you dig Dido, Ivy, Goldfrapp...with heavy synth and minimalist beats a la Kraftwerk...then you will really get into this album. One of the strengths of those early Cure albums is the Restraint on the part of the drums. Driving and heavy they were, but instead of showing off, Lol knew how to hold back and allow the music to breathe. Can you imagine how songs like All Cats Are Grey or A Forest would have come off with all sorts of high hat tricks and ramp-ups/outs? Exactly. He is my favorite drummer the Cure has had. I think the single carry-over, if you're looking for one on this album, is the minimalist use of drums, and used Well. The guy is really good at beats. Good going Lol...
