A pool of international artisans and craftspeople donated both their time and expertise, and numerous sponsors donated materials and funds to make the project and the accompanying book a reality. Among the projects featured are faux inlayed wood and marble, faux stone, iridescent plasters, new cement products troweled over existing countertops and floors, faux slate over linoleum, ornamentation steamed on to make custom cabinets, and trompe l oeil panels and murals to make small rooms look larger and low ceilings look taller. With its full-color before-and-after photographs, this resource guide will inspire and educate homeowners from the average to the affluent. One hundred percent of proceeds from the show home project and book will benefit victims of hurricane Katrina.

I absolutely love the ideas featured in this book! The photos of the artists' work are just amazing. Take one look at this book, and you'll soon be eyeing projects around your own house with a whole new perspective. If you love decorating and creative ideas, you'll love this book!

Besides fascinating art and great decorating ideas, you willl enjoy reading about the project that so many artists worked together to create. Although a home owner might be tempted to faux their entire house after seeing all the gorgeous color pictures, you can get inspiration to do one piece of furniture, a wall, or a room.

I was inspired by this book to change the direction of our project house for the TV show Flip That House. (For more information about the Faux Flip, see [...].)

This book is an excellent resource for the professional faux finisher or muralist as well as homeowners, businesses, and anyone else interested in paint and interior design. The book showcases various artists contributions to the "Faux House" located in Arlington, VA. Each room was completely redone using the talents of a group of artists (muralsists, faux finishers, and interior designers). All of the procedes went to the Habitat for Humanity charity to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. There is a resource section at the end of the book listing all the artists who participated including a short bio and how to contact them.
