Shaolin VS Wu-Tang

Biography

Corey Woods aka Raekwon The Chef, has been a staple in the Entertainment industry since his debut in 1993 as an integral part in undeniably one of the greatest Hip-Hop groups to date, the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. Rae's verbal ability took center stage early in the original cult classic "Protect Ya Neck", but little did the world know, that we were merely indulging in delicious appetizers delivered… Read more in Amazon's Raekwon Store

Editorial Reviews

It's very rare that an artist can go back and recapture the essence of their debut album, no matter how skilled they are. The chef cooks up that special batch of songs comparable to his timeless classic, "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx"... since the sequel was announced, Hip Hop heads have been praying Rae can bring back the Wu like Ghostface did with "Supreme Clientele." Until then, Lex Diamonds offers a new mixtape, "House Of Wax: The Vatican Mixtape Volume III", to hold fans over. The material on "House Of Wax" is older (that vintage Wu/RZA sound), and has been previously never heard or released. Rae hand picked these joints, 31 tracks strong and purposely left untitled... featuring RZA production and guest shots from Wu Tang brethren, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Old Dirty Bastard, Masta Killa as well as Hip Hop royalty Havoc (Mobb Deep), Fat Joe & Smif N' Wessun. As long as Rae sustains such momentum and relies on the RZA for the majority of "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II", he could have another classic album in the books. Until then, "House Of Wax" is a nice appetizer until The Chef cooks up his main course.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!, September 8, 2009
This review is from: House Of Wax: The Vatican Mixtape V3 (Audio CD)
This is a classic CD for fans of hip-hop from the mid to late nineties. It takes me back to what I call the "golden years" of the genre. Todays new music is just noise and has no meaning in the lyrics. I would highly recommend this CD.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not the greatest, August 29, 2009

This review is from: House Of Wax: The Vatican Mixtape V3 (Audio CD)
After purchasing the Vatican Mixtape 1 which was increidble, I went ahead and purchased Vatican Mixtapes 2 and 3. Unfortunately, they were not as good as the first. In fact, the third features many songs from the first but not at the same quality.

My recommendation, if you are a hardcode Raekwon or Wu-Tang fan, go for it. Otherwise you are not missing much.

5.0 out of 5 stars New York is Raekwon, Homie., October 14, 2007
This review is from: House Of Wax: The Vatican Mixtape V3 (Audio CD)
This by far the best out of the three mix tapes that Raekwon has released.

I think that Raekwon spits some of his best material on this album. Some tracks I have heard before, but there are little differences or new verses that make up for it (such as Maxine remix and It is What it is from Masta Killas "Made In Brooklyn"). The rewinding of the track that you heard a lot of on Vatican v. 2 is mostly gone or not as annoying on this album.

What else can I say? This album is very tight and you should pick it up. Songs are hot, skits are funny, Raekwon is at his best, etc. etc. On the album, Rae says that Cuban Linx 2 is gonna come when he says its gonna come, and I cant wait! I am really hyped about the release of Cuban Linx 2 now.

My only complaints are that there is no track listing, and no names for the songs either. Also my favorite track on the album is only a miniute long (#13).

Favorite Tracks: 4, 13 (insane flow), 30, 31 (classic Rae/Ghost), and all the rest of the tracks!
