5.0 out of 5 stars "Chilling" Thrill Ride
HOUSE OF WOLVES is another intense adventure with August Adams. I love how each page begged me to keep reading further. Bronleewe delivers again with warring secret societies, age old mysteries, an insanely valuable book, and enough action and plot twists to make you read the entire book in one setting. Most mysterious perhaps is one of the locations- Antartica. All...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad Font
If I hadn't had so much trouble with the font at the beginning of every chapter, I probably would have given this four stars. The story was good, but the crazy font face used at the start of chapters and then a script font used for portions of the book (that I simply could not resize to save myself) meant that I'm sure I missed something in the story. It also made reading...

This is a great read. I found Illuminated after doing a search online and picked it up after reading some other reviews that were positive. I was not disappointed at all. I couldn't wait for this one to arrive and I was not disappointed at all. The August Adams series is a great story line and sure to captivate everyone. I highly reccomend this book for anyone looking for a great thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars August Adams is Back!, August 21, 2008

This review is from: House of Wolves (An August Adams Adventure) (Hardcover)
Matt Bronleewe does it again in this second book in the August Adams series. This one is even better than the first which was a good book. Adams is back to fight secret societies and find hidden secrets in a rare book. I know the action in the book takes place in a few days time but it is still interesting and it makes the book that much more enjoyable. The book reminds me of the movie National treasure. You can really tell how Bronleewe has grown since the first book and I cant wait to see what mysteries August Adams tackles next. A great read that I couldnt put down after starting.

After reading Illuminated, that I stumbled upon at a Christian book store, I just loved it and went on the web to find out more about Matt Bronleewe. I found out that you could sign up to win a signed copy from the author and I won. I just received this book House of Wolves yesterday and am reading it now. I am just loving it and would recommend any one to read it and Illuminated. Can't wait for more of Matt Bronleewe writing. He keeps you turning the pages and wanting more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome follow-up, August 5, 2008
By
This review is from: House of Wolves (An August Adams Adventure) (Hardcover)
I was really impressed with the first book in this series, Illuminated, and wondered how the author would do with a sequel.....and I wasn't disapointed. This book kept me turning the pages as fast as the first. I received it in the mail today, and have already finished reading it. This series, and this book, are definitely worth reading, and I look forward to more in this series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad Font, September 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It also made reading the book rather disjointed.

I also found the use of the Nazi occult idea a bit dated and, quite frankly, over-used.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal story!, June 9, 2009

This second book from Matt Bronleewe is just as good as his first "Illuminated" if not better! Both read like a movie. I couldn't put it down. It's like a skillfully written combination of National Treasure and The DaVinci Code. Awesome! I hope he plans on writing more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun followup, February 27, 2009

This review is from: House of Wolves (An August Adams Adventure) (Hardcover)
I was worried about a sophomore slump, but this book is even better than the first August Adams book. The plot moves, and more importantly the characters do, too (I hated the whole "August spends the entire book on a plane" thing in the first book).

The pacing in this book is very fast, similar to the first book. I still think this series would make a great TV miniseries (or even better, an Alternate Reality Game - ahem, Thomas Nelson). Diverse plotlines come together at the end -- I loved this part; much better than Illuminated.

I never liked August Adams in Illuminated; I still don't like him that much, but I'm starting to warm up to him. His father is a fascinating character, and I hope Bronleewe keeps him around for at least the next book. Saying much more about my favorite characters would end up getting into spoiler territory; suffice to say that I was very happy to see the characters fleshed out more in this book, and look forward to future installments.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting action/adventure novel!, January 1, 2009
This review is from: House of Wolves (An August Adams Adventure) (Hardcover)
I loved the fact that the author used fact and fables regarding Hitler's obsession with relics to come up with one dynamic tale. Only I wouldn't recommend getting attached to some of the characters as they tended to get picked off by the killers along the way. This novel sort of reminds me of Relentless by Robin Parrish or Germ by Robert Liparulo in that it is fast paced and there is a serious manhunt going on with many casualties and a lot of gruesome stuff done with knives. Oh, and things blowing up, lots of chasing scenes, and shooting guns, etc. Doesn't that just sound like an action packed story? It wasn't too gross for me, though, and I tend to be a wimp.

The quality of the author's writing and the plot was very well done. Bronleewe has a unique story telling style. For people who like "National Treasure" and "Indiana Jones" type stories, this is sure to please. I also loved how things turned out in the end for the main characters. For an action/thriller type novel, this ranks toward the top of my list. The twists and turns were believeable and well done. It held my attention and the plot details fascinated me. I don't know how the author kept track of all of that information and how he tied it together, but it seemed flawless. Great story! I can't wait for the next installment!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Page Turner!, October 16, 2008
This review is from: House of Wolves (An August Adams Adventure) (Hardcover)
I started this book one night before bedtime and read well into the night. The next night I did the same. On the third day I found my mind often wandering to the story line wondering how it was going to end. My family wanted to go to a bookstore that evening (before bedtime) so while they browsed I picked up a store copy of the book and finished it right at closing time! I finally got a good nights sleep! If you haven't read "Illuminated" yet, start with it and "House of Wolves" will make better sense. Just make sure you are well rested before you begin!
