Twila Paris is the real thing. This album is an understated collection of hymns that are rich in truth and praise. Some of these may become regular church standards in coming years.

I don't entirely like the direction Christian music has been taking as of late. However, Twila Paris has restored my belief that their are still Christian artists who are still aware of the purpose of why they were given their musical gifts and talents.

Nice job Twila and I believe the Lord would tell you about this work, "Well done, true and faithful servant."

4.0 out of 5 stars Twila Still Writes Great Worship Music, October 21, 2003

With all the artists releasing CD's devoted to worship music, it only makes sense that Twila Paris would release one of her own. Ever since her first CD came out over 20 years ago, she's has been known for her worshipful lyrics and has contributed a number of songs to modern hymn books and worship services.

In fact, two of the twelve new songs featured here are new recording of her classics "We Bow Down" and "We Will Glorify." The other 10 songs are all new and all penned by this master songwriter. This CD probably represents the greatest range of topics for a worship CD. There are songs that focus on who God is ("God of All," "For Eternity," "Glory and Honor,") but also songs that are prayers to live as God would have us live ("Come Emmanuel," "Fill My Heart," "Make Us One") and reminders that we as Christians live new lives ("Not My Own" and "Christ in Us.")

My only complaint about this project will be nothing new to Twila's fans (and I consider myself one.) Her worship songs have always had a lot of repetition to them. Before, it hasn't been as noticeable because they've been mixed in with regular songs. Here, it's much more obvious and begins to wear on my before it's all over. Still, there are some great songs that I'm sure will become church standards in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superlative music and lyrics from a great artist, August 21, 2004

This latest album of Twila Paris has surpassed all my favourite songwriters and singers of worship and praise music. I have great albums from Brian Doerksen, Geoff Bullock, Matt Redman, Michael W. Smith, Carman, The Newsboys and many more but this album outshines them all!!

I have every album that Twila Paris has ever brought out and her amazing talent just keeps getting better and better.

We have been singing 'We Bow Down' and 'We Will Glorify' for a number of years in our church and I never knew that they had been written by my favourite female artist. I am sure that many more of the songs on this album are going to make their way into our church's praise and worship services.

One reviewer mentioned that many of the songs have repetitive words, I would suggest that this is part of many wonderful praise and worship songs.

The blend of Twila's magical voice, the backing orchestra and supporting vocals are just majestic and turn our hearts to woship our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. There cannot ever be too many songs writen and sung to His honour and glory.

What more can I say? This is a true masterpiece of musical adoration. The Lord bless you richly Twila Paris for your dedication in using your talents for the Lord.

5.0 out of 5 stars She will glorify the Lord of Lords..., April 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: House of Worship (Audio CD)
Exceptional selection of 10 new tracks and two ageless classics make for a wonderfully modern yet timeless collection of songs destined to find their way into worship services everywhere. How many artists can be both contemporary and conservative at the same time, writing songs that appear in hymnals and top 10 charts? There are just a handful such talented individuals, and Twila Paris is one of the best. There are both powerful group praise pieces ("Glory and Honor", "God of All", "I Want the World To Know") where you can easily imagine congregations swaying and singing to the beat, and more quiet and very inspiring pieces more fitting for worship solos ("Fill My Heart", "Christ in Us", "Not My Own"). Nothing here is overly fancy or clever, nor overly "innovative", but it is all written, performed and produced in top notch form with genuine feeling and spiritual passion. What else could you expect from one of the true pioneers of both Christian contemporary and worship music?

5.0 out of 5 stars The album surpasses all!!!, March 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: House of Worship (Audio CD)
Twila's new album House Of Worship should be considered a classic, though it was only released a week ago. Each of these 12 songs are instant classics and will be heard many years from now. Once again, her simple lyrics and beautiful melodies about Jesus Christ should bring more people to Him.

Love the way how she combines somber melodies with positive lyrics! One example is "Christ In Us". The piano is very depressing and sad, yet her lyrics are positive, giving the song more depth and emotion.

"For Eternity" makes the listener feel like you are in Heaven! The angelic voices backing up Twila's voice give the song a powerful feel. "Fill My Heart", again, Twila mixes positive lyrics with a sad melody. Love this song! "Glory And Honor" makes you want to stand up and rejoice, it is an upbeat tempoed song.

House Of Worship is by far the best Christian album this year. I give this album 2 thumbs up and it is worth every cent! Her songs are very emotional and spiritual. Lately, on Christian radio I hear songs that are 'trying' to be a 'hit' song... That's not what Christian music is about, instead of trying to reach number 1 on the charts, Christian artist should try to reach those who don't know Christ and bring them forth to Jesus Christ. This is something Twila Paris has done for many years, it's no wonder the name Twila Paris is a household name in many Christian households! Not like... What was that name???? Zoe Girl???

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring..., July 13, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: House of Worship (Audio CD)
This CD was probably the best she's yet come out with. Some of the songs, specifically "God of All", really inspire you and make you think about the words. Other songs, namely "I want the world to Know" were just wonderfully...moving and had great words. However, all the songs on this CD were great, not only the one's I've mentioned. My mom brpught it home to me one day as a gift and it became an instant favorite. For anyone who likes her music or anyone who is new to her, this CD is certainly one to get.

If you liked Perennial, this album is even better. This is one CD where every single song is exceptional. It is a perfect mix of lively songs and some mellow tracks like Make us One and Come Emmanuel. My personal favourite is I Want the World to Know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, May 26, 2005
This review is from: House of Worship (Audio CD)
I just recently bought this CD and it's great. Her voice is so powerful! I've started to listen to Christian music and started to turn into a Christian music fan about 3-4 years ago, and it's brought me a lot closer to God. Twila Paris's Greatest Hits CD was one of my first CD I purchased, and have loved her from that point on. Her songs are so wonderful. "God Is In Control" has got to be one of my favorites. Anyone who has this CD or any of her CD's know that all her songs are great, and anyone who buys this will not be disapointed in any way!

Twila Paris has a unique style of music that simply cannot be duplicated. Her voice is a treasure that gets you in the right mood for worship, and the lyrics of her music certainly are as well, earning her the title "the modern day hymn writer."
