Tabi socks order them bigger!, May 7, 2007
The quality of the product is excellent, I had a little trouble with the sizes, when I ordered the size number 9.5, after seeing my nike tennis shoes (US 9.5), I expected them to be the same size as my tennis shoes. They were much smaller, I measured my foot and it measured 10.5 inches exactly, so i exchanged them. They fit just right standing up, but the fabric is not flexible, so when i was doing my katas of Muso Jikinden Eishin Ryo Iaijutsu (sword drawing), i had to flex my foot repeatedly and then it would get too tight, so i sent them back again and got them size 11, they fit perfect and dont bother when flexing the foot.
My recommendation: order them 0.5 inches bigger than the actual measurement of of your foot with a ruler. If they are too big you can shrink them in the dryer, if they are too small you will have to pay for S&H.

very pleased, August 12, 2007
This review is from: Tabi socks (Apparel)
I ordered the correct size for my foot, having worn tabis for many years. These are as I remembered and I am very pleased with them. The quality is excellent as is the "House of Rice". I recommend them without reservation.

Decent quality, and also quite cute!, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Tabi socks (Apparel)
Length of Ownership: One week
Quality of Material: Good for dojo practice, but I have some doubt about outdoor durability.
Quality of Workmanship: Decent
Traction: Slightly slick cloth soles, but not as slick as athletic socks. Will provide good pivoting ability.
Appearance: Nice
Sizing: I agree with the other reviewers that these are made small. Also, they definitely shrink when washed.
I wear a 9.5 Shoe, and I ordered size 11. Unwashed, they drowned my feet but after washing in hot water and drying on high, they are only slightly loose. I could've gotten away with a 10.5 size if I wanted a more snug fit, but they do fit acceptably.
Fastenings: I'm slightly concerned that the fastenings could come apart or break eventually. As these are my first pair of Tabi socks, I'm uncertain whether to call this a "con". The fastenings are little clips that you slide behind loops of string. Are these fastenings meant to be "traditional" or functional? I don't know. Time will tell.
Overall: Great for kenjutsu practice or anyone obsessed with the idea of wearing "ninja booties"
I'd've given these 5 stars if not for the sizing rigamarole and the slightly questionable fastenings. Still, consider that I'm not a great authority on how Tabi should be fastened.
