Tabi socks order them bigger!,

The quality of the product is excellent, I had a little trouble with the sizes, when I ordered the size number 9.5, after seeing my nike tennis shoes (US 9.5), I expected them to be the same size as my tennis shoes. They were much smaller, I measured my foot and it measured 10.5 inches exactly, so i exchanged them. They fit just right standing up, but the fabric is not flexible, so when i was doing my katas of Muso Jikinden Eishin Ryo Iaijutsu (sword drawing), i had to flex my foot repeatedly and then it would get too tight, so i sent them back again and got them size 11, they fit perfect and dont bother when flexing the foot.My recommendation: order them 0.5 inches bigger than the actual measurement of of your foot with a ruler. If they are too big you can shrink them in the dryer, if they are too small you will have to pay for S&H.

I ordered the correct size for my foot, having worn tabis for many years. These are as I remembered and I am very pleased with them. The quality is excellent as is the "House of Rice". I recommend them without reservation.

Length of Ownership: One weekQuality of Material: Good for dojo practice, but I have some doubt about outdoor durability. Quality of Workmanship: Decent Traction: Slightly slick cloth soles, but not as slick as athletic socks. Will provide good pivoting ability. Appearance: Nice Sizing: I agree with the other reviewers that these are made small. Also, they definitely shrink when washed. I wear a 9.5 Shoe, and I ordered size 11. Unwashed, they drowned my feet but after washing in hot water and drying on high, they are only slightly loose. I could've gotten away with a 10.5 size if I wanted a more snug fit, but they do fit acceptably. Fastenings: I'm slightly concerned that the fastenings could come apart or break eventually. As these are my first pair of Tabi socks, I'm uncertain whether to call this a "con". The fastenings are little clips that you slide behind loops of string. Are these fastenings meant to be "traditional" or functional? I don't know. Time will tell. Overall: Great for kenjutsu practice or anyone obsessed with the idea of wearing "ninja booties" I'd've given these 5 stars if not for the sizing rigamarole and the slightly questionable fastenings. Still, consider that I'm not a great authority on how Tabi should be fastened.

I was a little concerned when reading the reviews regarding the sizing issues that other customers have had. I measured my foot and ordered precisely what I measured. Lo and behold, they fit perfectly. Granted, not every foot is going to be exactly 10.5 or 11 inches long, but I highly recommend ordering as close to your measured size as is possible.Regarding the quality of the product, I think they could stand up to being worn outside without sandals for a fair length of time. The soles are nice and thick. I wouldn't run a marathon in these, but I might walk around the yard if I was too lazy to don my zoris. Also, the upper section consists of a black or white outer layer (depending on what you order) and a white inner layer of very tightly woven cotton. The metal fastening tabs are thicker than I expected, however they will bend if you purposely try to bend them. I bent one ever so slightly and straightened it right back out to test the strength. I was satisfied. They are sewn in, so the worst that will happen is the thread may come loose at some point. This should not be an issue if your tabi fit correctly. If I lost these or wore them out, I would buy them again.

Exactly what I wanted,

These were exactly what I was looking for: good Japanese-style socks to wear with my hakama in aikido. Choosing the size wasn't a big deal. I measured just as described. I have skinny feet so they were a little baggy so I simply washed them in hot water and put them in the dryer on high.Just an fyi for anyone looking for something a little stickier: the sole doesn't have quite as much tread as I would like. I think it has more to do with our mats than anything else--tatami style judo mats--so movement is a bit of an adjustment.

A girlfriend and I were reminiscencing about items of clothing from our childhoods in the '50s and '60s and remembered the comfort and fun of running around the house in Tabi socks --- those Japanese slipper socks with a separate space for one's big toe.Wondering if they might still exist, we checked on-line (what ever did we do without the internet?)and sure enough, House of Rice had them. They are exactly as we remembered them --- soft, comfortable, with a nice, non-skid sole. We are enjoying them again, and thank House of Rice for stocking them and delivering them in record time.

I've ordered these tabi socks a number of times and been satisfied each time. Make sure you carefully follow the instructions for picking the right size. It's not your shoe size.I use them for aikido which I practice three or four hours a week. They fit great and have the right level of friction with the mat. The only problem I have is that they only last six months. And by that time, they're full of holes. Maybe that's to be expected. Socks probably wouldn't last that long. It just seems like I ought to be able to get more than a hundred hours of use out of them. I haven't found anything better, though.

These are very nice all cloth tabi. They fit well and felt natural to were. Though they suggest to hand wash with Woolite Dark in an all black load with cold wash and rinse they didn't fade much. They go well with my geta though they make the straps a little tight and they work perfectly with my zori.

These tabi are well made and fit great. I was a bit worried about the sizing being in inches instead of US standard, but I ordered the 12-inch for my size US 13 feet to find that they fit very well. I am quite satisfied with my new socks, and will proudly wear them in cosplay and every other chance I can find.

white cotton tabi socks, ankle-length,

I love these. They are just like the ones we wore in our house when I was a kid, with zories (white shag carpetsare difficult to keep clean). Only drawback is: they are a bit pricey. They are sturdy, but still a bit high.
