Book Review,
This review is from: Houseboat Girl (Hardcover)
This book is great. The Patsy character is my mother-in-law. She and all her brother and sisters are still living well in 2006. She resides in the south while her brother and sisters live in the northern region. She has 6 kids of her own and MANY grand childern. I have heard her tell her stories of living on the river, and it is great to be able to read about it in a story book as well. She talks about wanting to go down the river again someday and she just might.

Childhood memories of this book,

I remember reading many of the Lois Lenski's books as a young girl. I loved the illustrations because they weren't too fancy,or drowning in color, they were just simple sketches. Of all the stories this one(Houseboat Girl) was my favorite and I can't wait to get it and share it with all the small ones in my family. Another great memory is that in many of Lenski's stories the main character was a young girl, like me. After reading Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn I found characters like the ones in Lenski's books and of course the Laura Ingalls books, more enjoyable because they were from a girls point of view.
