I bought one of these about a year ago - not from Amazon, but from a local JoAnn Fabrics outlet. I used this item exclusively to press the sleeves of mens' dress shirts - 100% cotton, which calls for lots of steam and high ironing temperatures. At first, everything was fine. The metal frame is well-made and it folds nicely, and the padding and cover are also very substantial. But after several months, the ironing surface - which is made of particle board - began to lose its rigidity and to bend downward from a point roughly one-third of the way in from the narrow end of the board. Today it snapped in two at that point. An examination of the break reveals that the particle board ironing surface is completely unfinished or sealed in any way I could see, its only protection from steam and moisture being some contact paper applied over its surface. This product is probably good enough for low volume, light duty low steam ironing, but it is not up to snuff for the high-heat, high steam and high volume ironing I do. That's why today I am shopping for a replacement.

I've purchased two of these....should have learned the first time. Both of them broke in the exact same spot. The particle board just cannot handle any sort of pressure and easily snaps. I will NOT be buying this kind of sleeve board again.

Very handy. Since I don't use this often I really like that it can be folded up and hung neatly on a wall or in a closet. Nice price, too. Great value.

I did not purchase this from Amazon, but from a local JoAnn's store, and within a few months it completely fell apart. I once had a metal sleeve board, but when it rusted, I bought this one, since I looked all over town and it was the only one I could find. It is made out of cheap particle board, and literally crumbled as I was using it. I am not a professional seamstress, just a mom who is particular about her kids' clothes, and sleeve boards are great for ironing kids' clothes. However, it seems if you use steam at all, it just disenegrates! I tried to return it to JoAnn's and they didn't want to take responsibility for it, saying, "Sorry, that's how they are made now....you should try to screw a metal bracket onto it and fix it." No, JoAnn's....YOU should check Amazon and find yourselves a better quality product to stock!

The ironing board works well. The only thing I would change would be the length of it. It just isn't quite long enough for dress shirt sleeves.

This was the best priced sleeve ironing board I could find. They all appeared to made the same but the prices were all over the place. The quality is just so so however. There is one screw holding the plate hinge on the bottom in place. It is short and recently just fell out. Since this is made of particle board the hole is getting wider so a wider screw will not work and neither will a longer one as it would poke through the ironing surface. Bummer. This is one of the most useful ironing boards around. You can do baby and childrens' clothes quite easily as well as adult sleeves and gathers. Not sure what I'll do now.

I purchased this for some tailoring work. I like the fact that it is collapsible, but that seems to be part of what makes it sort of junky. I can use it to iron the sleeves of my shirts before I wear them, but it bends far too much for pressing open seams and such for dress shirt construction.

Since purchasing this item, it has been used with great delight. My wife is extremely happy with this item. She actually looks forward to ironing my shirts.

I have been searching for one of these boards for a long time. It is just great. Handles most of my clothes so I don't have to drag out the big one.
