5.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Make Disappear
I wanted a light weight dryer that I could easily remove once the clothes were dried because the best place to put it was right in the middle of my deck. I set it up so that it goes through the umbrella hole of my patio table into the umbrella weight below. It works great and you can use the table to fold the laundry on. No digging, no concrete. Simple, simple, simple...

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well for the price
Could not find one of these outdoor umbrella dryers locally, so searched Amazon and found one, cost was around 56 bucks with shipping, I believe. I already had the ground pipe from an earlier unit, so did not have to go through the hassle of digging and cementing. The cords are somewhat loose, but can be tied shorter easily. The opening mechanics are simple, but I lubed...

It is so easy to set up and remove. For me, the light weight construction is a plus. Being able to remove and store it also keeps the lines clean. If it were permanently installed, you would probably have to clean the lines every time you used it.
I love using this product. I save $$$ on my energy bill, the laundry smells great- especially the sheets, and it is very satisfying to complete a chore the way my grandmother used to do it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Save the planet but not your time, July 4, 2007

To install you find a place where it won't create an eyesore and dig a hole, fill bottom of hole with rocks, pour in concrete, bury an included plastic tube, put pole in and level. This take about a half an hour. If you have the shovel, concrete, rocks, bucket, and a level.

I like this product it provides enough space to hang at least 3 of my laundry loads. If you have never air dried laundry outside before I recommend getting some socks wet and letting them dry on your porch to get the effect and gauging if you can deal with the fact that some times they don't come out the softest. The other bummer is it takes more time to hang them up than throwing them in the dryer. The clothesline does spin in the base though so you don't have to move while hanging laundry so it isn't that bad. It also comes out so you can store the clothesline somewhere else.

It is a good feeling to know that I am not running my dryer for 50 minutes a load though and I think more people should experience it.

I already had the ground pipe from an earlier unit, so did not have to go through the hassle of digging and cementing. The cords are somewhat loose, but can be tied shorter easily. The opening mechanics are simple, but I lubed the pole with a wax-based bicycle chain lube and it slides much easier than without. This is a Chinese product so I do not expect much. I don't leave it out in bad Oregon weather (rain) so I think it will do well. If it lasts four to five summers, then I will be happy. Delivery time from the vendor was good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dad happy with Father's Day gift!, July 4, 2007

I purchased this clothes dryer for my elderly father, based on the reviews and the fact that it spun - so my Dad would not have to walk around to hang his clothes. He was so excited to receive this and since he already had a pole in the ground, installed it the next day. It worked perfectly until he had used it a few times. One day, after hanging all of his laundry (my Dad washes very few clothes @ a time), the whole thing collaspsed - clothes all over the ground - being resourceful, he picked up his clothes and took the pole apart and found where the lever was pushed in hence, the pole closed. I told him that I would return the item and he asked me to wait and see. Thankfully, he's had no problems since then, but be aware that this might happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars No tangles and easy up!, March 11, 2008
This review is from: Household Essentials 1600 12-Line Outdoor Umbrella-Style Clothes Dryer with Aluminum Arms (Kitchen)
I was a little worried that this would be cumbersome to use... I planned to not leave this in place, but to put up and take down frequently...

To my surprise, this clothesline goes up easily and does not tangle at all! I used to be super careful taking it down, but have discovered that it is not needed... just slip it up and slip it down with no thought at all.

Better than I expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Weight restriction, November 27, 2007

Ok, this is one that needs full disclosure. First of all, there is a weight restriction equalling about one basket of wet laundry (what else would one hang on it?). Next there is the matter of securing the sleeve in the ground with concrete (not included). Dig a hole, put in the very nice plastic sleeve complete with cover, pour wet concrete around it and use the dryer the next day. It's a handy and economical clothesline - I love it - it can come inside during our bad weather and hardly takes up any room. And I must say the USA customer support at Amazon saved me with this one - the overseas customer support was proper but only read the manual to me when I called repeatedly for help - it is random placement so keep dialing if you really really need customer support.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hey, It Works!, October 28, 2007
This review is from: Household Essentials 1600 12-Line Outdoor Umbrella-Style Clothes Dryer with Aluminum Arms (Kitchen)
This item is a little hard to set up, but once this obstacle is overcome, it works like a charm. We have had ours up since last winter, and are very happy with it. The only thing is, it isn't overly strong, so don't use it on very windy days. One of the supports bent because of strong winds.

Sunline Umbrella Outdoor Clothes Dryer

I love my umbrella clothes dryer! It's lightweight yet durable, folds down and easily opens for use or can be removed completely when not needed. Also, mine is installed so it rotates for loading. The identical product at other sites was higher in cost.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and fragile, June 23, 2010

Bought this item about 7 months ago. Since then it collapsed 3 times on us(with wet cloth ending up in the dirt) because of broken/damaged key PLASTIC pieces. The third time beyond 'repair'. This is a very flimsy/fragile construction that also does not do well in hot/sunny weather (where it would actually dry best), because the connecting plastic pieces become brittle. I would not recommend it to anyone thinking of using all the available lines/space, because this product simply cant handle it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, August 5, 2008
This review is from: Household Essentials 1600 12-Line Outdoor Umbrella-Style Clothes Dryer with Aluminum Arms (Kitchen)
It's been so long since I hung any clothing to dry outdoors I forgot how stiff they can get. But, anyway, this has been a great product.

Got it about a month ago, followed the installation directions, and everything works as promised. I've never put more than three loads of clothes on it, but it would probably hold four.

Because it's an umbrella version of a clothesline, I have found that I need to balance out the really heavy clothing, like the towels and so forth. But otherwise, I've had no problems with this clothsline.

My dryer used to send the dial on my power meter spinning like crazy. It has been a real pleasure knowing that I can dry my clothes for free now.
