LOADS of help - develop a laundry system for busy families,
This review is from: Household Essentials Doorknob Hanging Cotton Canvas Laundry Bag (Kitchen)
Believe it or not, I ordered 12 of these hampers. I put one in every bathroom, 2 in each bedroom and 3 in the laundry room. Fortunately, Amazon was running a "Buy 3, get 1 free" special so I technically paid for only 9 of them. That seems like a lot of money to spend on laundry bags, but the convenience, organization & neatness you achieve using these bags is WELL worth it.We all have dirty clothes to wash. We all have dirty clothes to store until we wash them. How many of us are really pleased with the system we have in place? My system was definitely not working for me and it's hard to ask others in the family to help out and do their part when there wasn't a good system to begin with! When I took the plunge and ordered them, I figured I'd go all out and really get a 'system' -- each bedroom would have 2 so NO MORE SORTING. The canvas bag zips onto a plastic coated heavy gauge (at least 1/4in diameter) metal rectangle frame. A large metal hook (in the same heavy gauge) is very securely wrapped around the rectangular frame in a way that allows it free movement and can pivot for proper positioning around doorknobs, hooks or whatever you choose to hang it on. The design is a great idea because a more rigid attachment of the hook to the frame would not have been as easy to use & would not have lasted long when the laundry bag becomes full (you know how heavy clothes can get in a laundry bag) We remove the bag from the frame for an occasional washing, but for unloading dirty clothes, it's easier to bring the entire unit to the laundry room rather than remove the canvas bag each time. We carry it by the metal hook and frame & the canvas bag adds little to no additional weight unlike a plastic laundry basket. (We've tried pop-up mesh hamper systems and they eventually rip or the metal that makes it pop-up eventually pokes through and becomes a hazard) When it's time to do a load of lights, tell the kids to bring their "lights" hamper and they put the contents directly into the washer. Even a 5yr old can do it. There is a convenient zipper that runs almost the length of the bag in the bag for unloading it, but we just reach down inside and empty it by hand or we put the open top and 'shake' it empty directly into the washer & take the newly-emptied hamper upstairs. Sometimes we tall them to bring it down in the morning. At the end of the day they take their clothes upstairs along w/their empty laundry bag/hamper. The whole process takes them 2 or 3 minutes so no arguments from them. We have a front loader and it's easy to unload these into it, but I would think it'd be even easier if you had a top-loading washing machine to use the 'dump' method. The laundry room also serves as our mudroom which is a glorified walk-through with a door at one end to the garage & at the other end to the main part of the house. It is the changing station at the end hiking, playing outside, home from sports, etc. Consequently, clothes from the entire family would end up overflowing our previous system: a laundry basket tucked away in one of the wide cabinets. The basket was bulky, overflowed easily & never worked well. Opening the cabinet you needed to brace yourself for the inevitable clothes avalanche. Plus, it took up valuable cabinet space! Whitney Design Doorknob Hanging Laundry Bags to the rescue. I installed coat racks along the wall of the laundry room which now hold 3 of these hanging laundry bags. I wasn't sure if anyone would actually use them, but lo and behold, THEY DO! The bags have a large enough opening about (16x6 inches) - so they are wide & easy to quickly load dirty clothes for even the most impatient. Despite the large opening, the bags don't stick into the walk-way/room area (only 4-inches from the wall). ALL other systems we've tried are square and bulky & leave not room for ingress/egress through the room without doing the side-shimmy. -- Even the bedrooms and bathrooms stay neat and tidy. They're do easy to use and hold a LOT of clothes that everyone prefers to put everything in these bags rather than having clothes or towels scattered everywhere. Even those who forget only need quick reminder. These units are also 27 inches from top to bottom, so the dirty clothes fall down into a deep bag and stay there until you take them out. They're also canvas bags that expand sideways so they really hold aa lot. These are constantly being bumped and swayed but are so strong that they stay put! I need only take a peek at which bag is full, empty it into the washer & do a call-out to the rest of the family to bring theirs (light clothes or darks) and start a load of laundry! So simple. This design is perfect to teach self-sufficiency to kids. Laundry baskets are unweildy for them to carry downstairs alone (not to mention dangerous sometimes). Mesh laundry bags are portable and work pretty well, but the wooden, plastic or even metal systems they mount on usually don't last long. (I've had many cracked wooden hamper stand and metal screw-together frames that just don't hold-up to a FULL heavy load inside. They are also square-shaped and take up too much floor space in a closet or bedroom) Kids can easily drag or carry these bags to the laundry room. We hang these on the kids closet doorknobs (double bi-fold doors), on the back of each bathroom door for dirty towels & in our walk-in closets. I know that if I empty the bags from our master closets & wash them together; I can dry & fold them together and therefore, know all those go back to our room & bathroom. Same with the kids' loads. Same with towels & sheets. Very easy to keep track of things, saves space, saves time. NO COMPLAINTS. I highly recommend these to anyone whether you have a small or large home or family. I'm glad I finally ordered them after several months of vacillating!

This review is from: Household Essentials Doorknob Hanging Cotton Canvas Laundry Bag (Kitchen)
I bought these for the laundry of my two toddlers to replace the mesh foldable bags which had ripped over time and use. The metal hanger and bag frame is almost as think as a pencil and holds up well (white-coated). On the back of the canvas bag is a zipper which allows for easy emptying at wash time. Canvas bag has strenght to it and is not paper thin. Nice size as it holds easily a toddler's week of clothes. Have hung one on closet shelving, closet clothes rod and on door handle. Only downside is carrying to washer. it has a canvas strap on one side. I think it would have been better to have straps on both sides. I would buy this again for it's shape, sturdiness, and thoughful design (zipper). No more kids clothes on the floor!
