4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!
This clothes line is great. I have had it about 2 months and just love it. I have the poles about 30 feet apart and 5 lines holds ALL the linens for a king sized bed, a queen sized bed and a twin PLUS two bathrooms worth of towels.

I would have given this item 5 stars but I thought it was weird that you had to buy 2 of them. I would have thought they...

These poles were heavier gauge than I expected which was good, and I like the finish. As someone else noted, the instructions were very minimal, but they were easy to put together. Like another reviewer, I used a PVC sleeve cemented into the ground so I can easily remove the poles.

I would have thought they would have come as a pair. One pole isn't going to be much good.

Also, I had my contractor put in PVC sleeves inbedded in concrete so the poles can be removed and the sleeves capped in the rainy season. It would have been nice if that was an included feature.

I couldn't fine a t-post clothes line in any nearby store so I looked on the internet and ordered this one. It was delivered promptly and the quality is excellent. The white finish is smooth and the hardware is very sturdy. I'm not afraid of it bending at all. Now I can take advantage of the sun's power and save on my electricity bill.

These poles were heavier gauge than I expected which was good, and I like the finish. As someone else noted, the instructions were very minimal, but they were easy to put together. Like another reviewer, I used a PVC sleeve cemented into the ground so I can easily remove the poles.

I have found two problems. First, the poles are not tall enough for me-I am 5'9" and have difficulty using the inner lines because they are all below my head level. It would be helpful if they were adjustable for at least another 3 or 4 inches of height. Secondly, the cross bar is bolted into place and will not come out, but it moves loosely in its joint with the vertical bar. It would be better if it fit together more snugly. Also, the poles will twist at the joint of the two vertical pieces. This makes the horizontal top piece turn based on clothesline tension so it is not parallel with its mate on the other end. I plan on drilling holes in the two vertical pieces and bolting them together.

I LOVE hanging my clothes outside to dry. But if I had it to do over, I would probably buy the pipe and fittings to make my own poles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saves money, electricity, & grants me "alone time"!, July 21, 2011

I ordered two (generally clothesline posts are not available in pairs) of these strong and sturdy steel posts Household Essentials FT-30 Mega Outdoor Clothes-Drying T-Post Pole Assembly. All the necessary hardwire for attaching the actual line to hang the wet clothing on come with the posts; however, one must purchase the line separately. My research convinced me that it is important to string vinyl-coated twisted wire line between the postsfor added stability Wire Cable Clothesline, 5/32" x 100'.

I live in Georgia, and we have sunshine and warm weather at least eight months of the year for hanging out laundry. My handyman charged me $150.00 to install the posts, including labor and materials. I felt the cost was quite reasonable given the heat and humidity of a Georgia July day for digging holes and working with concrete. One tip for the day and times in which we live: check your neighborhood covenants and county permit requirements before installing any permanent structure in your yard!

The posts and line have had many, many loads of laundry hung on them since that day successfully. I was a bit concerned that heavy towels and denim jeans, etc. might be too much weight and cause the poles to bend or lines to snap, but all is well.

I feel good about my little part in helping the environment by using less coal-produced electricity and am pleased with a lower electric bill. I have also discovered that reaching up to actually hang wet clothing on the line above my head has begun to firm up the flab under my upper arms and allows time for a bit of silent reflection. No one in my family wants to join me at the line; that time is mine all mine!

Great product, much stronger than what you find in Lowe's or Home Depot. If you're serious about hanging your wash, this is the product for you. One warning though, you need to buy two to set out the line. They are not sold in pairs!

These are very nice to look out at and not too big like some.
I bought the matching white line as well. Just right for a city girl gone green.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Constructed, May 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Household Essentials FT-30 Mega Outdoor Clothes-Drying T-Post Pole Assembly (Kitchen)
After reading all of these reviews, I purchased the clothesline poles and hoped for the best. There aren't many out there anymore, and the price didn't seem too bad. I was also impressed with the look and heaviness of the poles. The directions were pitiful, but luckily we could figure it out on our own. We set the concrete at the depth specified and everything was good until we started putting the poles together.
My complaint is what has been mentioned several times by other costumers. Even though the poles seem sturdy, they are poorly constructed! The horizontal bar is anchored with a bolt, but because it is significantly smaller than the "U" shape it sets in, there is a great deal of moment. This made it difficult to pull the line taunt, and is basically unusable at this point (too much play in the line making the lines sag). Our plan is to attach two metal straps and bolt them diagonally to hold the bar into position. Also, the vertical bar comes in two pieces. This allows the poles to twist and shift. When pulling the lines tight, we noticed a bend in the pole at the attachment. So, now we are also going to add bolts to contect the two parts. What were they thinking?
After all the time, money, and energy we are putting into these clothesline poles, I do believe we will be able to use them eventually. Please note though, that if we had to do it all over again, we would buy the pipe and fittings and make our own.

This review is from: Household Essentials FT-30 Mega Outdoor Clothes-Drying T-Post Pole Assembly (Kitchen)
I received this item in a timely manner, but the product was very poor. By the time I figured out that is was poorly designed, it was already poured in cement. Now I have to deal with it and it makes me unhappy every day when I look at it or use it. I have done everything I can think of to modify it to make it acceptable, but nothing helps. The cross bar moves when you tighten the lines, so you can never really tighten the lines.

I even asked my son who is an engineer to look at it and he could not come up with a solution to fix the problem.

The theory is okay, but the construction was poor and I think it needs more parts or a redesign to make it functional. It shouldn't even be sold.

Also, it has round bolts to fasten the lines and it is nearly impossible to easily put the lines up, even if it didn't move. It needs the type of fastener that allows you to wind the line and tighten it. Once it is around the bolts, you can't retighten the lines without taking it all down and starting over.l
