5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!
I wanted a teflon type cover. I would never have cloth. This was not what I was originally looking for however. I read one review that made it seem iffy, but ordered anyway because of the cheap price!

Man, was I suprised! It's an excellent product. The foam pad is attached, so I don't know how it could slide around like one reviewer said. It's all one...

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work out all that Well, October 24, 2008
This review is from: Household Essentials Standard Ironing Board Pads & Covers (Kitchen)
When I managed to ruin our first ironing board cover, I ordered this one, thinking it would be a fine investment at a comfortable price point. I wanted something sturdy enough to use, but not terribly expensive, since we don't iron all that often.

The cover itself has the grey top piece with the bungee cord elastic around the sides to hold it on. There is a loose layer of foam underneath. There are no cross straps to hold it on the board and the foam is not attached to the top piece. I would love to tell you how it performed, but unfortunately, I was unable to get it to fit properly onto the board. The sides would keep popping up and the foam sliding around until I realized the foam in the nose was torn.

At this point I gave up on the cover as a lost cause and proceeded to buy a more expensive one with cross straps to hold it on and with the foam sewn into the actual peice. It cost about twice as much, did eliminate the aggravation and fit the board fine.

This may be a perfectly servicable cover, but I found it next to impossible to install on my board and am much happier with the new cover I have now.

Happy Ironing! ^_^ Shanshad

Man, was I suprised! It's an excellent product. The foam pad is attached, so I don't know how it could slide around like one reviewer said. It's all one piece. It fit like a glove and no stupid draw strings to mess with either!

The wrinkles ironed out immediately and it's an even better product than I anticipated. In fact, it's the best cover I've ever had! I highly recommend it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not suitable for ironing cotton or linen, April 15, 2009

Beware - this product manages to collect, store and regurgitate moisture. It will produce wet spots on the clothes you are trying to iron. So you end up going back over the same area again and again to dry the fabric.

4.0 out of 5 stars A few nice surprises, June 11, 2009
By
The move from a cheap, thin cotton ironing board cover to this has made such a tremendous difference in my ironing experience. I will never go back from this style/material.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see that this product has a Cradle to Cradle certification from MBDC. I am surprised that the manufacturer doesn't seem use this for marketing at all. What isn't clear to me is exactly how one goes about recycling the materials when the cover's useful life eventually ends.

The cover fits fine on my ironing board, which I measured to be sure before ordering.

The only annoying thing to me is that the foam underneath got a bit creased so the surface is not quite smooth. The ironing isn't really affected, but I am rather particular and would prefer to have a more consistent subsurface.

5.0 out of 5 stars Household Essentials Standard Ironing Board Replacement Pad and Cover, Silver Silicone Coated, November 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I will start by agreeing with KateE "Cosmic Muffin" who stated a fear that the cover would not fit. I had the same experience. I attempted to put the cover on my board and appeared to come up about 18 inches short. I tried for minutes then decided perhaps I had a defective cover. SO I came here to start the return prpcess and found the reviews section.

My advice is two-fold.

1. Don't give up - the cover will fit a 54" board. It will take some muscle and some jockeying, but the cover does go on!

2. Start at the flat end of the board. Trying to put the cover on nose first over the pointed end of the board appears virtually impossible. Once I had the flat end on, the nose took some tugging (and a fear of tearing) but in fact the cover went on much more easily going point last.

I also agree with others - the silicone covers do iron better than the cloth covers. Perhaps the reflected heat does help.

Finally, it is great to not have dangling ties and cords. The cover is snug and does not slide. Much better than those that have to be retightened every so often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Ironing Board Cover, September 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
So glad I ordered this one! For starters, it has that silicone surface that works better and lasts longer than mere fabric.
It is thickly padded with foam.
When I went to install it, I had an unnerving moment when I feared that it was too small for my ironing board (and I had actually measured before ordering it!) But it took only a little shifting, stretching and adjusting to realize that the fit is excellent: the elastic makes it snug and perfectly smooth without any need for drawstrings or straps.
And on top of all these fine features, it has a little pocket that hangs off one side-- perfect for storing all those loose buttons and coins and miscellaneous pesky items that tend to accumulate atop the ironing board. This cover is better than perfect.

Finally replaced our old ironing cover. Bought the silver coated cover which I think speeds up the ironing process since it appears to reflect the heat. Fits great. Nice and taut. No need for strap in middle.

5.0 out of 5 stars The description of this item is absolutely accurate!, March 17, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I measured my board first-length & width. Then I started looking for a cover that was padded because my board base is made of metal mesh. Then I looked for one that was silver because I know from experience it radiates the iron heat back up through the fabric being ironed. Then I looked for one that could be tightened around all the edges to tighten the top cover. This one met all the requirements. When it arrived it fit like a glove and is exactly as I hoped!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product & Price!!, January 12, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have had these silicone coated ironing board covers in the past and they are much better than the regular cloth ones. The last one I bought at Bed Bath & Beyond was over $30. This one was $11 AND is so much better! I was worried it was going to be cheap, but I was pleasantly surprised! The fit is perfect & very snug. Getting it on to the board was a little tough. It looked like it was NOT going to fit. But with a little tugging it went on & I see why it's designed to be that way. It is very secure & smooth, with no cords or straps needed to hold it on. I'm going to buy a few more as backups - I just love this cover!
