5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Pictures Great Ideas
I loved this book! I bought it to get ideas for some tree houses my wife and I will be building in India. It was especially helpful to us since Indians are just not used to this style of building and these pictures helped give our Indian architects a sense of what we were looking for. It is a great book to dream by too. How nice it would be to live in some of these homes...

3.0 out of 5 stars Most arent even treehouses!
I was looking forward to pics and ideas of treehouses by architects, particularly designs that would show a more modernist design. The cover pic looked promising. I was looking forward to pics and ideas of treehouses by architects, particularly designs that would show a more modernist design. The cover pic looked promising. However upon receiving the book I could see that not all were actually treehouses. Some were simply dwelllings on stilts or even raised houses. I thought it would mainly stick to, you know, treehouses! The cover design wasnt even in a tree! It was merely a house half propped on a cliff and the other half supported by wooden beams. Thats not a treehouse, but simply A HOUSE!Most arent actually treehouses, but are merely houses that are lifted up or partially lifted and supported by beams. That takes the whole challenge and amusement out of trying to find interesting ways of working with trees and creating interesting designs. The designs are interesting, but they arent actually treehouses, as a matter of fact, most of them arent.Of the sparse examples of actual treehouses, they are already ones covered in other books (that actually feature treehouses) or are boring, basic designs. Interesting book if youre into some modern designs, but expect only a small minority to be about actual treehouses.
