More About the Author

At 50-something, life is rich. Eight years after founding OrganizedHome.Com, I've just published my first book, "Houseworks"--and four more titles are in the hopper for the coming years.

OrganizedHome.Com and sister sites track a midlife journey of growth and discovery. The site network has a mission: to create an online space where members help one another get organized at home. We're focused on resources, information and self-help for better home management and organization. I'm proud that hundreds of thousands of families have found help and hope for chaotic lives through this work.

Running the computer side of the OH network has been a labor of love. A webmaster of the old school, I handle systems administration for our servers, code the pages, create the (admittedly-lame) graphics and write the content. I'm ably assisted by a cadre of moderators and admins, all of whom are learning and growing toward their own Web sites. It's exciting to watch the growth of an abundant crop of woman-powered online resources for better lives.

None of this would be possible without a happy home of my own. I live a rich life in eastern Washington state with husband Steve and cherished dogs Dicksie and Lindsey. Our hometown boasts wineries and agriculture, good friends and great quality of life, and we're proud to be active members of our community.

Two adult children, our daughter-in-law, and two small grandsons are frequent visitors, along with relatives, friends and guests from all corners of the globe.

Life is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best ever, November 4, 2010
This review is from: Houseworks (Paperback)
This is the best book on basic organization for everyone. Every part and parcel of your home and home office is examined and discussed from a sane, yes you can do it, point of view. There are pictures that show great organization ideas, too. The book begins with a brief explanation by the author on the whys and hows to have an organized home. It saves time - everything is were you put it (who knew), money - you can actually find your stuff and it's in better condition, energy - no more hunting through drawers, etc. and relieves stress. You can focus on what really matters. There are several more detailed books available for the already organized and they are great, but this is the one everyone needs. Coupled with organizedhome.com (the author's link), you can get it done and keep yourself sane in no time. I highly recommend this book and give it as a wedding shower gift along withMartha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook: The Essential Guide to Caring for Everything in Your Home.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Organization Bible, July 16, 2011
This review is from: Houseworks (Paperback)
I love this book! It is practical, clearly written, beautifully laid out and logical. I own several "home organization books" - and this is the LAST one I will ever need to buy! I have recommended it on my website for families with special needs kids [...] as my primary, go-to reference for getting things at home organized and accomplished. The author focuses on helping you determine, and work with, your own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to cleaning and keeping a home. In families with special needs kids, there can be extra challenges in keeping the home organized and, especially, clean. The author of the book gives me permission to have my home be "clean enough," which, when we are in crisis, or daily life is overwhelming, takes a monumental load of stress off my shoulders. I have different levels of expectations for myself when life gets rough vs. when life is relatively stable, and this book allows for that flexibility, so you won't feel totally thrown off course by not meeting someone else's "standards" or strict program - it takes that sense of failure off the table and allows me to develop my own plan of action. It won't do the work for me (darn!), but it gives me all the tools I need to get on track, develop a plan that's right for me, and to develop habits that can transform chaos into clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, December 7, 2011

This book is a treaty on how to take care of your home. It's very very very good for people (like me) with almost no knowledge on household caring. The Household Notebook is revolutionary indeed. In my country, this book costs 50 bucks, it's expensive but worth it.
