My son loves air hockey but we just don't have the floor space to give up, even for one of those little mini home ones. We opted for this set instead and have been having a blast with it. We clear floor or table space, set up barriers, traps, goals, etc.THe little goals they give you are kind of useless, they're too lightweight and move if you brush into them but other than that its a great set. We've only had these since the holidays, but so far quite durable!

As I suspected the boundaries that you set up for the air hockey are both weak and small. However the hovercraft puck and hand pieces are great. So we play with them on the hardwood floor and also made our own legless (on the floor) table with goals out of scrap wood. I think we got 90% of the experience (AFTER making the table) for maybe 20% of the cost of getting a regular table off of Craigslist.

but then, a 6 or younger kid can't even play with this. not a good product. i did return it, and looking for a bigger one.
