John Miller is an American treasure,
By Tim O'Neill (Orange, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How About Me? (Audio CD)
This is a Japanese reissue of the original Blue Goose LP. The cover and liner notes are miniaturized versions of that from the original LP. Kinda cute. There are additional liner notes in Japanese. This recording contains a mix of standards, original songs and novel arrangements of old country blues tunes. Miller's fingerstyle playing is up there with the best in the business, often intricate and complex, but always tasteful. His vocal chops may not be to everyone's liking, but his delivery is always sincere and moving. His version of "How About Me" is a great start. This CD is a bit pricey, but it's worth it. It's the kind of CD that you can listen to it over and over again. |
