5.0 out of 5 stars It is up to the consumer to fix the american economy
Roger Simmermaker does a very good job of showing why "consumer patriotism" is so important in improving our economy. He not only presents a well thought out and easy to read discussion, but also lists an enormous variety of products - giving details on which country they are made, and whether or not the company that makes them is a U.S. or foreign owned...

1.0 out of 5 stars fuzzy logic
The author suggests that we need to "buy American" so that American corporations can pay taxes to support all our "necessary" government programs, while admitting that 90% of tax dollars actually comes from the workers, not the corporations. What would the author say if other countries followed his example and refused to buy American products?

5.0 out of 5 stars It is up to the consumer to fix the american economy, February 5, 2003
By A Customer
Roger Simmermaker does a very good job of showing why "consumer patriotism" is so important in improving our economy. He not only presents a well thought out and easy to read discussion, but also lists an enormous variety of products - giving details on which country they are made, and whether or not the company that makes them is a U.S. or foreign owned company. This is important information for all of us to know so that we can make well informed purchases. For example, some of the best automobile tires in the world are made in the U.S. by U.S. owned companies such as Cooper, Goodyear, and Kelly. However, most people don't realize that Michelin, General, BF Goodrich, Bridgestone, Firestone, Dunlop, Pirelli, Toyo and Uniroyal are all made by foreign companies, often in foreign countries. What does this mean? When you buy the american made products you keep american families employed. When you buy foreign made products, you send your money off to some foreign country, adding to our trade deficit, putting americans out of work, and decreasing the amount of tax dollars available to the federal government and the states. Every American who wants a strong U.S. economy and good jobs available for their families and friends needs to read this book before making any more purchases.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real eye opener for hard working Americans !, November 2, 2002

American Pride Once More (Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This updated edition of "How Americans Can Buy American" should be every patriotic hard working Americans second bible! It should also be read by free trade supporting corporate officials who appear to have blinders on while trading away our independence for profit.
Mr. Simmermaker's clear facts are startling and informative as well as in line with all four great men on Mt. Rushmore's ideals about how protectionism is a must for this republic's sovereignty!
The product list is endless and easy to follow, and will be a real eye opener for working Americans, especially those who defend their right to drive foreign owned vehicles and buy other foreign owned products, and then worry about future lay offs and pay cuts. He details how American owned companies support our military and social security etc., foreign owned ones support their own with profits they make off of your hard earned dollars!
Mr. Simmermaker vividly explains how saving money on those foreign owned products will cost us ALL in long run and gives expert advice how we as consumers, can help to circumvent our own demise by not being penny wise and pound foolish.

By A Customer
Roger Simmermaker gives us all the data we need to buying American owned, American made products that keep the dollar circulating in America! He also explains how our country has changed and the problems that are cropping up in every community when we buy foreign products from foreign companies.

The book is easy to read and a perfect reference when you go shopping. I bought books for both sides of our family and we use them every time we shop. Finally, someone has put together information that gives us the power to make changes in this great country.
