This book is ok. Some might find it useful. I'd say someone new to flirting completely will get more from this book that someone who is looking to improve their flirting skills. 1.0 out of 5 stars nothing new, September 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
If you're totally clueless about interpersonal communication and psychology, you might might find this book to be a decent primer. At age 33, I just didn't learn anything new at all from it.

I found it to be mostly trite common sense, and the endless peppiness and contrived wittiness got on my nerves.

The book is outrageously mistitled. It most certainly will NOT teach you "how to attract anyone, anytime, anyplace"!!! It doesn't even pretend to teach you that. No book could.

I was hoping for more ice breakers and conversation starters. I already know not to stare at a woman's body or stare at somebody across the room too long, not to brag about myself, take an interest in her, be a good listener, etc. The very few conversation starters it did give were pretty lame. I mean, who's going to walk up to somebody and ask "what's an adventure you've had that stands out in your mind?"

This is a great book. I have found that by using some of the techniques, it gives me confidence because I "know" what I am supposed to be doing if I want to flirt with someone. Many of the points in this book are similar to those in "How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You", except this book is not as scientific. I suggest reading this book, go out (anywhere) and start using the techniques to flirt (remembering you are not looking for your wife/husband in everyone you flirt with). It will help eliminate some of the shyness some of us feel when it comes to flirting and using these techniques helps maintain a safe distance for some rejection if all you are looking for in the beginning are a few smiles from that attractive woman (trust me, you can get them.. got two yesterday in about an hour.. those smiles made my day). Then, after applying these techniques, get the book "How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You" and find out how you screwed up on that last date (trust me, I found out how I screwed up with the last 2 girls I was interested in and it became clear how, in one day, I did the things that "turned off" someone that seemed interested just the day before) and how you can use the flirting techniques with more in-depth scientific techniques. These books go together well and are probably the only ones I would think are necessary for becoming educated in relationships and meeting people. There are still barriers that will always be there, like rejection and shyness, but this book and "How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You" provide a "roadmap" for those of us who would like a checklist of things to do (even when it's not always so clear).

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for...great buy!!!, September 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
I was looking for a book that would help me understand what kind of signals I've been sending out using my own body language, and how to interpret others as well. This book hit the spot. As of now, I am single and anxious to get into a intimate relationship. When I started reading other books on this sort of material, I got the feeling I needed to act a certain way...or be someone I was'nt. Susan Rabin set me straight. If you pretend to be someone your not...someone will fall in love with that person...not yourself. This book describes how to bring out the flirt inside of you, without altering your personality. I can't wait to buy her other book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book on topics that go beyond just flirting., June 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
Just as a precursor: I hardly ever rate a book 10 unless I come away feeling that it was true perfection.

This book was very good, though. I don't know what the person who gave it a 2 was thinking (or if he/she was thinking at all). The book teaches a lot about body language, and good ways to gauge the actions and reactions of the person one is flirting with. Personally, I learned a lot about how to deal with rejection, and how to get past the initial "hello." The book explains things called "flirt props" that one can use to approach and be approached. Without a doubt, I'd recommend this book to any of my friends who complain about their dating life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring! I never knew how boring i was!!, January 10, 2001
By
Rick (Las Vegas, NV) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
Oh this book is great! It's unisex, so it can apply to males or females. First of all, I never knew how boring i was when trying to flirt with the ladies, until i read this great book! They used to blow me off like nothing in the past, but lately after applying the lessons from this book into my flirtatious playtime, I have been sweeping women off their feet! So will you! This book described the "old" me to a t, and how to change from a lifeless, unlucky, bump on a log (yes, this was me!), to a certified, enjoyable, pleasurable, charming, attractive FLIRT!

For example: One particular problem i've always had was eye-contact. This book helped me solve my problem, because what i always did was stare at a girl like she was an elephant that just walked into a crowded room. The girl i was after would just sneer at me like I just went potty in her wheaties. To give you a little quick lesson from the book, i learned a valuable lesson by using the term "the flirting triangle", where you imagine an upside-down triangle on the girl's face. The base of the triangle is from each side of her forehead, and the apex of it is at her chin. Being stared at is intimidating, and a big turn-off, but... if you use the flirting triangle, and glance at different areas of her face, you won't scare her off. Don't go lower than the chin! You don't want her to think you're a pervert. Just remember, don't stare!! You'll be left high and dry. The verb to use is GLANCE, for the amount of time it would take you to say "i see you. Do you see me?" Then with eye-contact comes the hello, the convos, the dating, and maybe, the marriage! Ooops! Forgot about the stork after that! Just kidding.

I love this book. So will you! Say goodbye to the old, boring, lonely you, and read this book! You won't be disappointed!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment, August 15, 2004
This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
This book really is a disappointment, especially after I read all these positive reviews on here. The author seems more intereted in being bombastic than getting her point of view across and those with a limited vocabulary are going to need to pick up a dictionary with this selection.

This book, altho crammed with advice, adds nothing to the genre whatsoever, and taking notes on a discussion with your mother on this topic can save you your 12 dollars. Furthermore, speaking as a guy, most of this advice will make you come off as too nice, which is not what you'd like to do, especially if you're interested in the lady you're conversing with.

Unless you're as blind as a bat in the area in your life, you can do much better than this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Advice you can apply to everyday life, October 19, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
This book advertises that it's a guide to "Flirting." A lot of people think that flirting is a bad thing, but all it means is social interaction between two people. This book gives advice on eye-contact, body language, and conversational skills among other things that can apply to any social situation. Whether it be in the office, or strangers on the street. It gives wonderful tips on how to keep a conversation going, and how to end a conversation gracefully. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels uncomfortable talking to people, or wants to be more social at gatherings. The advice is straightforward and it gives good examples. Enjoy your flirting.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for singles, August 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
Susan Rabin has written an excellent book for singles. I especially liked her discussions of proper eye contact, the importance of smiling and understanding body language. The book gives very helpful advice on how to assert yourself in the singles scene without being offensive or obvious. It also helps you get a better idea of what the other person might be thinking or feeling about you. Nice job Susan Rabin.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flirting works, December 19, 2003

This review is from: How to Attract Anyone, Anytime, Anyplace: The Smart Guide to Flirting (Paperback)
After one of my friends (who happens to be a girl) recommended this book and another, The Nice Guys' Guide to Getting Girls, I decided to read them and see what they were about. I do admit, I didn't know how to flirt...until I read these books. This book was real easy to read and the ideas in here are easy to implement. I went to a bar last night with a few friends and tried some of the techniques I learned in these books on some of the girls at that bar and they worked! Rabin knows what she's talking about in this book. If you wanted to know anything about flirting, these are the books for you.
