As an Author, Coach, and Motivational Speaker I read alot of books about people, their motivations, and their relationships. Wow, How to Be the Almost Perfect Wife is a guys version of a relationship conversation. It's short, direct, and impactful.

Ladies, please read and act on the items listed in this book. Some of the most important for me are:

** Be my cheerleader. Believe that I have the talent to achieve my dreams, even if it takes longer than I ever imagined.

** I love it when you just listen to show you understand. I also love it when you challenge me with a different perspective.

** If I want to go to bed later than you it doesn't mean I don't love you. It means I want to go to bed later than you.

** Pounce on me unexpectedly

Get a copy of this book and use it in your relationship for fun, for passion, and for romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars good ideas, September 1, 2004
This review is from: How to Be the Almost Perfect Wife: By Husbands Who Know (Paperback)
There are many good ideas throughout this book. Some are obvious, but still a good bit of information. You can learn how to be the wife your husband desires. There is not a lot of depth, however. It is a collection of quotes and nothing more. Why not ask your husband how you can be his perfect wife?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Meaningful Conversation Starter, February 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Be the Almost Perfect Wife: By Husbands Who Know (Paperback)
My husband and I read and thoroughly enjoyed this book (and its companion "How To Be The Almost Perfect Husband") on our last road trip to the mountains. We took turns driving/reading out loud and the five hours in the car flew by. Some of the suggestions really got us talking and we felt more connected than we had in a long time. The result was a truly romantic and loving weekend!

First off, the description of this book is totally misleading. You are lead to believe that in the book there will be some ACTUAL writing by the author, giving advice on the subjects that are in the description...NONE, seriously, NOT ONE WORD! The book consists ONLY of quotes, ranging from 1 incomplete sentence to the occasional 2 sentence quote, from various men that are married, single, divorced, widowed, married 2-3 times. These quotes are spread through the pages in LARGE type and then even LARGER type with anywhere from 1-2 quotes per page, I can only assume this is because the author was TRYING to add length to the book, just as a child would with their 3rd grade English homework. If you do the math, a 118 page book with 1-2 quotes per page equals around 200 quotes (and I'm being generous)...I'm sorry, but in my opinion that doesn't seem like much of a book to me! Another thing I noticed, while trying very hard to find some kind of sustenance in this book, is that many of the quotes are from the same men, simply placed in different areas of the book so most people won't notice. So you really don't know how many different men you are receiving input from which bothers me, I'd like to know that the thoughts expressed are from a WIDE variety of men so that I can take them more seriously. I find it hard to believe that the author actually asked more than 1,000 men these questions, as he claims to have done. If he had asked that many men for their opinion then I highly doubt that within a book containing only about 200 quotes (800 less than the number of men interviewed) he would have had to actually use quotes from the SAME men repeatedly?? It just doesn't add up right. Anyway, I bought this book based on the positive reviews that others had given it, I cannot for the life of me see why they rated this book the way they did? So, in an attempt to help another potential buyer who is looking to buy a book based on the reviews, I thought I should write a review that is MUCH more accurate than the others, in my opinion. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, BUY A REAL BOOK! I only paid around four dollars for this book and I feel it was a complete waste. I read the entire "book" in less than 30 minutes and I was nothing but disappointed by the end of it. I recently finished reading Dr. Laura's book "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" and I was so inspired by it that I decided I would try out another book that gives advice to wives from a more male oriented view, this book "How to Be the Almost Perfect Wife" was definitely the wrong book to choose. If you are looking for a GREAT relationship book that will SERIOUSLY help you with real advice, even if you aren't having problems, then I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Laura's book instead. The ironic thing is that "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" is written by a woman and actually gives more incite into the male mind than this book! (MY HUSBAND EVEN AGREES!) I am happily married and just enjoy expanding my knowledge to help me better understand and interact with my husband, I got exactly that from Dr. Laura's book and I got NOTHING from this book. MY RECOMMENDATION: SERIOUSLY...DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK...buy something else, I'm sure ANYTHING else would be better.

I just received this book today and have already read completely through it. I had my husband go through it and highlight all the things he wanted me to work on. I think this book is going to be great for my marriage. Great book!

This book and the companion book, "How to be the Almost Perfect Husband" are absolutely wonderful. As a couples therapist, these are the things that often come up that men and women want one another to know about. This is great for men to read, to better understand women and also to understand how universal their needs are. I recommend both of these books highly! These are both my new gifts for bridal showers, weddings, and anniversaries. I just love them!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A book to read and re-read, February 19, 2000

This review is from: How to Be the Almost Perfect Wife: By Husbands Who Know (Paperback)
This book is great for anyone in a relationship, who will one day be, or just curious about the opposite sex. It's harder than ever to keep a marriage together and strong. This book offers an inside look at the male mind. We all know they have a hard time expressing their feelings so this book gives us women some clues to what our partner may be feeling. Compliled from all different men with various opinions, we can relate to this down-to-earth book and improve our relationships. This book is a perfect gift as well as a keeper for yourself.

I thought hsi book was going to be full of helpful hints written in "book" format. All it was were short, one-sentence quotes from other people on things that helped their marriage. No research to back up anything. A nice read but not work more than $1 total.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fuel for the Newlywed Soul, January 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: How to Be the Almost Perfect Wife: By Husbands Who Know (Paperback)
This book is by no means a wonderpill for awful relationships or a bible for the newlyweds, but no book really is. What this serves as is more of a running start for people who plan to stay together forever. The advice is sound and badly needed, although some of the "experts" have been divorced several times. Other than that, it's a solid four out of five as far as good advice for long, loving relationships. And the reader doesn't feel like they're being psychoanalyzed by a book. This is the healthy marriage book for people who don't want to be therapied to death.
