Well written, but far from brilliant,
This review is from: How to Be Brilliant: Change Your Ways in 90 Days (Paperback)
Dont know whether I had read too many books of this kind or what, I cant remember much from this, except the impression of its being a short, easy reading, or even interesting self improvement book with strong emphasis on positive thinking, NLP and "massive immediate action". I am sure that people who seldom read self help books can learn much from it. However, for veterans who read regularly and keep on fighting against procrastination or simply inaction, satisfaction is not guaranteed.
Nevertheless, below please find some of my favorite points for your reference. The right people turn up at the right time - so keep your eyes open. You never know, the person sitting opposite you on the train, or that friend of a friend could hold the answer to so many questions in your life. But if you dont talk to them, you'll never know. pg xv Here is a list of some classics and some new language: I'm bored vs This could be more interesting I'm pissed off vs I could be happier I'm scared vs I could be more confident I'm freezing vs It could be warmer This is a crap vs This could be better pg 30 Dont be most people! pg 40 When you create a goal in the present tense, your brain says "OK, if that's how things have to look, sound and feel, what do I have to do to make that happen now?" This is why a goal will happen so much faster if you set it in the present tense. pg 56 The only way of moving forward is to be aware of the things that are holding you back. pg 86 Five frongs were sitting on a log. One decides to jump off; how many are left? The answer is five. Why? Because the frog only decided to jump off. It didnt actually schedule the jump time and stick to it! pg 137 When a rocket leaves the launch pad on a trip to the moon, it uses 95 per cent of its energy in the first 3 minutes. It's the initial push that is needed to break through. The same can be said of a pursuit of brilliance. pg 142 It's not the lack of resources but the lack of resourcefulness that most people suffer from. pg 155

I'm an avid reader of these kinds of books but found this one to be a bit of a redux of others books. Not that its bad, it has a good order and practicality to it but its like so many others with stop the negative attitudes, be positive, focus ... dont get the ninety day thing but maybe its just me. Same person walking in with different clothes

This book is definitely worth a read, with some great motivational ideas. Like other reviewers - I enjoyed the ideas about changing your attitude about things, and changing your ways to reach a new standard of your life, brilliance.
The kind of book that's easy to read, and skim through from time to time.
