With 36 books to his credit, Shook is obviously a veteran author. Most of his works deal with selling, but he has recently coauthored several investment books with his son. This collaboration is especially fitting since his own first book was cowritten with his father 20 years ago. It is that book that he now resurrects virtually unchanged, although salesman has become salesperson, wife has become spouse, and secretary has become gatekeeper. Of course, new technology has changed or added tools to help those who sell, but the psychological and interpersonal aspects of selling are timeless, and Shook's very basic advice should be welcomed by a new generation of professional salespersons.
