About the Author

Alex is a fifth grader from Michigan. His attends his local public school, but his elementary school experience will be shorter than most kids, because he skipped third grade. He also took top honors in his region's 2012 AWANA Bible Quiz competition. Alex plays the piano and is an alumni of Interlochen Arts Camp, where he studied piano and acting. He is a member of his school's cross country and track teams, and he likes to run 5K races. At this year's school talent show, Alex told jokes about school and politics. The year after second grade, Alex changed schools. At an end of the year conference with the teachers, his parents were surprised to hear Alex described as “the rockstar” of fourth grade. They asked Alex how he was able to go from the new kid in the school to being popular, what is in this book is what was his response.

I was watching a local TV show here in Traverse City,MI and this wonderful boy was talking about the book he wrote. I was so impressed by him I purchased the book for my grandchildren (2 girls and 1 boy). The book arrived today and I was so happy with it I ordered another one for myself.Keep up the good work Alex.

Chapters like "Managing Embarrassment" and "If You Can't Win, Be Funny Instead" are just two examples of Alex Olin's charming perspectives. In our extremely social world, "How to Be Cool in Elementary School" by Alex Olin is a must-read including easy-to-try tips for all ages, youth to adult. Thanks, Alex!

I bought this book as a thank you gift for a 5th grade class that I did student teaching in. I read multiple chapters with the students and they loved it. Alex's writing is humorous and relatable for kids. I also bought one for my sister, who teaches 5th grade, and one for myself. I can't wait to see what he writes next!

This young man has quite a sense of what life is all about at his tender age. He's a little inspiration and I would have loved to have him as my friend in school!
