This book is written with such a passionate aim: to help God's children experience the fulness that His Holy Spirit has to offer. How to Be Filled With the Holy Spirit is written in a very balanced Charismatic viewpoint. It reveals how to receive the Holy Spirit in a way that changes one's life and one's life for Christ. This is one of the best books written on the subject. Many authors, evangelists, and pastors just say "God bless you" and finish there. But Aiden W. Tozer goes beyond that. He tells you HOW you can receive the blessing. That's what makes Mr. Tozer an excellent author. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a continuous process and this book explains that wonderfully. The Holy Spirit is here on earth for all of us. He's here to give us power and comfort. All we have to do is receive Him. In return, we'll be filled! Buy this book! It will definitely get your spirit excited and on fire for Jesus!

This booklet is only 58 pages long, but it may easily be said that no author save the prophets, apostles and reformers have packed so much power into so small a space. There are a multiplicity of theories on "how to be filled with the Holy Spirit," but if you are weary of formulas and three-step approaches from this great mass of experience-oriented teachers then this book is for you. Tozer's understanding is firmly rooted in the holy scripture and is both fully divine and piercingly practical. Be drawn into the presence of God and know the sweet, fragrant power and peace of His Holy Spirit as you are led by this great saint--one who lived and walked in the presence of God and the power of the Spirit. This book contains four messages on the Holy Spirit--the titles are as follows:

1. Who is the Holy Spirit?
2. The Promise of the Father
3. How to Be Filled With the Holy Spirit
4. How to Cultivate the Spirit's Companionship

There are two other volumes of Tozer's works which contain the same basic content: the first is an expansion of this booklet and the second is a full-length book of sermons on the Holy Spirit entitled The Counselor. While the power and force of Tozer's words is better preserved in this smaller work, the additional content of The Counselor is indespensable to one seeking a truly biblical, charismatic understanding of the Holy Spirit.

After Salvation itself, man's greatest need is to be as filled with the Holy Spirit as the believers at Pentecost were filled. This book contains 4 chapters: 1) Who Is the Holy Spirit? 2) The Promise of the Father; 3) How To Cultivate the Spirit's Companionship; 4) Filled With The Spirit. An excellent exposition of theological depth and practical Spirit-filled Christian living.

I was looking for a book to use as a text for a Class called The Holy Spirit in You. Tozer's booklet is a concise and detailed explanation of why born again Christians should seek to obtain an anointing from the Holy Spirit which would further motivate and enable them to resist sin and feel free to testify of their experience. He makes it clear that there is a self examination and commitment necessary after having initially been forgiven for our past sins which brings us this empowering as it did in the beginning at Pentecost; the Holy Spirit "taking the whole personality over, gently, but directly and bluntly". The Holy Spirit enables us to apply that which Jesus obtained for us. Tozer carefully demolishes our defenses and enumerates the steps to the realization of our hope for a closer walk with God by faith in Jesus through the Holy Spirit. I'm going to use Tozer's booklet as a text for my class.
