5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a useful beauty book....
I have been reading fashion magazines and Kevyn Aucoin books since my early teens. Now, whenever I buy a beauty book (other than the late Aucoin's) it seems to go over the same old stuff. And they always give the same tips, most of which I know aren't that great of tips anyways from experience. I usually end up getting a refund, so I was nervous about this one. But I love...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good beauty talk
When I first started reading this book I was a little put off because I had a silly, first hand narration that seemed a litte forced and corny and faked. But after a while I was completely sold. When I first started reading this book I was a little put off because I had a silly, first hand narration that seemed a litte forced and corny and faked. But after a while I was completely sold. I have to say I've always liked Carmen. Yes she's a groupie and a bimbo, but she still seems smart and funny and not at all pretentious. No "I'm a serious actress and my [...] are real" bs. Anyway, you get the impression it is actually her own words that are in the book and no ghostwriter and if you are into clothes and makeup and all that it's good stuff. I like the parts about self-esteem too. However there are a couple of chapters at the end that are rather silly, like stuff about trying to charm a guy through body language. I'd much rather have a book called Carmen Electra's Beauty and Health than this because it seems a litte sad and desperate and embarrasing to have in your bookcase. So there are a couple of parts that I think she should have skipped, and also there are a couple of thing I wish she had put in. I think a lot of girls would have been interested in a chapter about body maintance, what she eats and doesn't eat and exercise and how she manages to stay motivated. After all, Electras body is a large part of what makes her famous but she doesn't mention that at all. While I'm at it a bit more about actual sex and relationships wouldn't have hurt either. Overall I'd give it a 3. It's pretty good exept for the name and a few of the chapters and the fact that it's pretty slim. I read it in one sitting.

But I love Carmen Electra and was obviously curious about what she had to say. I'm surprised at her honesty (some of her tips break traditional makeup rules, but in a good way!). The confidence sections are also very very insightful. She gives great tips that any woman could use in her daily life. The book has definintly taught me to own my confidence.

3.0 out of 5 stars ehhh, July 8, 2008
This review is from: How to Be Sexy (Hardcover)
Ok, so I love Carmen Electra and I was really looking forward to getting this book. I was only mildly satisfied. Don't get me wrong, she was very cute in it but this book I feel was geared towards 13 year olds who need help learning how to do their makeup. There was a really good section on body language but I wanted more meat and substance. It wasn't horrible but I am really glad I got a good deal because I would not have wanted to pay cover price for this.

4.0 out of 5 stars TRYING TO FIND A MAN...., May 20, 2007
This review is from: How to Be Sexy (Hardcover)
I just bought this book today, and I am already so glad that I bought it. I am 28 years old, fixing to be 29 in a few days, and I am still single. So, while browsing, I came across this book thinking that learning a few NEW tricks to make myself even more sexier might not be a bad idea. I am already on Chapter 4, and Carmen has a great attitude toward body confidence, sexyiness, and great ideas about applying makeup and taking care of your skin. Plus, so far, I already am starting to feel better about myself. Her first suggestion is to stand upright and tall and command attention when you walk into a room. I am going to incorporate every idea of hers starting tomorrow that I have read so far. I am hoping that by incorporating some of her ideas into my life and sexy attitude, I will find the man of my dreams!!!! I defiantly recomment this book for all single women hoping to intice their mate or husband. Also, if you are a fan of Carment's, check out her Striptease videos. If you love to dance, and want to knock the socks off(plus a lot more) of your man, her videos are a must for your workout dvd collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars great tips!, May 12, 2008
This review is from: How to Be Sexy (Hardcover)
I thought this was really good. I am a married 30something who wants to look good for hubby, and yet not forget that I am still a woman who wants to feel sexy around other people (men) too.. I especially liked the make up ideas (I have actually already purchased the fake eyelashes, we'll see if I ever have the chance to wear them!) - day and night stuff, etc.. I also liked the pep talk of being confident in yourself, no matter size/shape/age.. Kudos!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book to get the basics, November 6, 2008
This review is from: How to Be Sexy (Hardcover)
Carmen lays out some of the basics when it comes to being sexy. Perhaps there are some things that we have picked up on or barely noticed. Carmen puts it into simple and direct terms. If you are pretty confident that you have the basics down than I would probably look for something of a more advanced level. I am a big fan of her striptease aerobics, I bought the whole set but I carry the basic striptease DVD with me on long trips.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not specific enough, November 2, 2007

This review is from: How to Be Sexy (Hardcover)
Every time I see a "Carmen-type" woman, I always wonder how they know how to find the perfect shade lipgloss and the awesome tops and jeans. It's as if there is a secret "hot-girl" store. I was hoping Carmen's book would give specifics such as "buy Loreal lipgloss in Perfectly Peach". I understand what looks good on one person may not look good on another, but I bought the book hoping she would be specific about what worked for her. She is also short like me, so I was hoping she would talk specifically about what specific clothing and what lengths work for her. Basically, you could find the exact same advice in beauty magazines like Allure.
