Review

How to Become a Successful Commercial Model takes the reader throughout the commercial model process, from creation of the composite sheet to getting an agent to developing effective work habits. Marcus also provides a helpful glossary at the back, defining a variety of terms peculiar to this industry. Aaron Marcus clearly loves his chosen field, and it is evident on every page of this very meticulous work. --Michael Lazan - Back Stage NY/LA

The models I hire over and over again are the ones who know how to give me a wide range of looks, expressions, project the appropriate feelings on demand, and know exactly what to do on the set. I have never seen a book that gives such insights, behind the scenes and practical information, and written in such an honest way, with integrity and passion. Give yourself your greatest chance for success. Read this book. --Ozzie Mansour, Ozzie Mansour Photography Toronto\New York

If you ever thought about pursuing TV commercials then you should also learn about commercial print modeling. This book is a must for anyone breaking into commercial modeling or wanting to advance a career. --Joan See, The School For Film & Television New York

From the Publisher

This book is invaluable to both actors wanting to learn how to utilize their acting skills to obtain commercial print bookings as well as those interested in modeling but do not have the stats or interest in entering the fashion industry.

Mr. Marcus has thoughtfully included pictures and other samples that clearly illustrate his topics. I have used this book to teach commercial modeling classes, and my students have universally responded in a positive fashion. His writing style is clear and easy to follow. His format and information cover "soup to nuts;" this book is perfect for people just getting started in the commercial modeling business AND for those trying to ramp up an existing career.

This book is a basic "how to" on breaking into the world of commercial modeling. It's easy and entertaining to read and tells you how to avoid the scams and get the jobs. I'd reccomend it for actors, who want to branch out to print work, and for anyone who looks at ads and thinks, "I could do that!" With Mr. Marcus's help, you probably could.

I had no idea how to go about getting into the modeling business, I purchased this book and read it cover to cover the first day. It covered every question I could think of and then some, definatly will pay for itself! I have since signed on with a modeling agency and booked a few jobs on my own as well as developing my portfolio with quality photos without paying a dime.

I have now read this book 5 time in the last 10 days! I have never been more excited and enthused about this industry since I can remember. Although I have done a number of commercials, and some print work, I have missed out on jobs that I should have won. I now feel after reading this book, I will be much more effective at my auditions and marketing my portfolio. Whether you are just beginning, or a 20 year veteran, this book is a must read for commercial actors and print models!

This book is a great resource for aspiring commercial models. It is laid out in simple terms with detailed step by step instructions to get you through the processes of putting together a composite sheet, finding an agent and photographers, and even finding work on your own. If you believe (like most people do) that you have to be 5'11" tall and a size 2 to work in the modeling field, you will soon see you are wrong. Most of the modeling going on in the advertising world today is done by commercial models, like Aaron. Here is a unique opportunity to take advice from someone who has worked in the industry and can point you in the direction of real success. If you buy this book, you are laying the groundwork for a successful career. I recommend skimming over it once, then going through it with a highlighter and pen to put in notes and highlight terms and things you want to remember. It is an invaluable resource for those of us in the commercial modeling field.

We have used this book over and over again in our daughter's quest to becoming a commercial model. It is packed full of fantastic information on the TRUE ins and out of what it takes to be successful in the business. The photos are a great help and Aaron Marcus gives you advice no one else does. We just came back from LA and the IMTA competition with several callbacks for our daughter! We couldn't have done it without the help of this book!

I read this book hoping that it would give me some insight into the field that I was embarking on. I found the book to be an easy reader. I read it in 2 days because I am just getting my modeling career started. The book gives practical and realistic advice. Because the book was written by a model, the information to me seemed very relevant. The book is written as if Aaron is actually talking with you face to face. He is very real, direct, and straight to the point with his tactics to help you get started in the modeling industry. I knew I liked the author immediately when I saw how he used "thinking outside the box" tactics to get work.

As a result, of reading the books I have tried some of his methods; and it has worked. Currently, I am signed with three agencies because I followed the directions in the book. If that is not enough, I took the initiative to e-mail Aaron ( heck, I sent him my Comp Card);and he e-mailed me back and gave me some great constructive criticism. Even though, he was on his way to NY he still took the time to e-mail me back and he insisted that he would e-mail me with more in depth comments about my shots when he returned. Well, he returned and I got an e-mail from him. It really meant a lot to me because I was like holy smoke the author really cares about his readers. In addition, he has an informative website " how to model.com" that can be very helpful to new models.
This is a must for any new commercial model.

Thanks AAron,

Cheli
