Civility has diminished as crowds increase and technology infects our humanity. So here is a book designed to define proper behavior, or manners in the old-fashioned terminology, for the socially challenged. This etiquette rule book spells out the acceptable responses for conduct that requires correction in various places, times, or social situations. While on the plane, polite strategies are plotted to gain one’s rightful armrest or for cutting off a talkative seat-mate. In matters of road rage, refrain from using the one finger salute, as this gesture might provoke unexpected consequences. Explicit instructions for laundromat behavior are detailed, when and when not to remove clothes from the washer or dryer so as not to commit a laundromat violation. In the gym, always wipe up your sweat, it’s yours...so take it with you. When in a relationship, don’t say “I love you” just to get sex and never declare your love via e-mail, be brave and say it in person. The book is filled with common sense advice that is sometimes as boorish as the behavior needing alteration, unfortunately it lacks the finesse of Emily Post or the elegance and wit of Miss Manners.

Disappointing for a college student. This may be good for someone in middle school.

The world would probably be a much better place if everyone read this book. It wasn't quite what I was hoping for, but it was entertaining.
