Hello, This Is Roy D. Mercer,
By Jane Riley (Louisiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How Big'a Boy Are Ya 2 (Audio CD)
Ridiculous, absurd, silly, hilarious, stupid--just plain side-splitting funny, Roy D. Mercer's second volume of HOW BIG A BOY ARE YA? made me laugh until I cried. These phone conversations helped me not to live life too seriously because life is too serious not to take time to laugh. Jane Riley, author of SOLOMON'S PORCH, THE STORY OF BEN AND ROSE

IF YOU ENJOY RED-NECK HUMOR YOU ARE GOING TO FIND THIS ONE HILARIOUS.,
This review is from: How Big'a Boy Are Ya 2 (Audio CD)
This is the second volume or collection of the prank telephone calls from Roy D. Mercer recorded from the studio of KMOD Radio, Tulsa, Oklahoma. For those of you that are not familiar with the Mercer format; Roy makes prank telephone calls to various individuals living in the local area. These calls are pure red neck humor. Roy always makes some absurd remark or accusation which as sill as they are, are actually believable is a strange sort of way. The calls usually culminate in Mr. Mercer threatening to come down (after asking how big they are) to deal out some "Whup-ass." Each recipient of these calls will react in a different way and the responses are just as hilarious as the line Mercer is throwing out.I have collected and own quite a number of these CDs over the years and this volume two and the others are some of my favorite listening while I am traveling. On this particular edition we have Roy trying to book a tour is a small Oklahoma town, accusing a garage owner of placing S&M gear in his glove box while his car is in for repair, picking a fight with a manager of a cemetery who he accuses of urinating on his great grand-daddy's grave, a call to a gas station over "bad gas" and a strange argument with a fellow over paternity. There are a total of ten calls on this CD which includes the "Mercer Family Christmas." I have to tell you that when you listen to these recordings for the first time you may have a bit of a problem if you are driving because you will be laughing so hard that you will almost have to pull over to the side of the road. Give this CD a shot. I can almost promise you that you will enjoy each and every insulting, quirky, hilarious and outrageous call and the equally entertaining responses of Mercer's victims. This review is from: How Big'a Boy Are Ya 2 (Audio CD)
Anyone who enjoys "playing" practical jokes will love Roy D. Mercer. When I hear these CDs I can't help but wonder how I would react in a similar situation. I've known people like Roy D. and this is definitely a laugh out loud recording.
