This book contains an exhaustive amount of information on the 1935-48 Ford and Mercury which is firmly established as the hot rod of choice. Included on its 200 hundred plus pages are hundreds of photos and drawings including frame drawings with measurements. There is also a special section about using Ford OHV engines, so the end product can be a Ford front to rear.
Rich grew up on a small farm in northern Utah, where he learned to fish with his Dad and Grandpa, and hunt asparagus along ditch banks and fence lines to sell to neighbors.
When he was nine years old, his family broke apart, and he ended up moving to southern California. Although the breakup of the family was tragic, the move was one of the luckiest events in Rich's life because that eventually led to him meeting Becky ... the girl of his dreams. Today, Rich and Becky live happily on one little corner of what seems like the Garden of Eden. They have a daughter, three sons, and ten grandchildren --- all are the joy of their lives.
During the course of his career, Rich has written hundreds of articles that have been published by a variety of outdoor, adventure and automotive magazines. He is the author of several books, both fiction and non-fiction, and worked on outdoor survival video productions.
Rich enjoys sailing. He served as an instructor for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, and he authored Rich Johnson's Guide to Trailer Boat Sailing, available at NorLightsPress. He and Becky sail their 26-foot sloop as often as possible.
One of his primary interests is outdoor survival, and he wrote Rich Johnson's Guide to Wilderness Survival; published in 2008 by McGraw-Hill. He maintains the survival blog Getting Out Alive at http://wilderness-urban-survival.blogspot.com, and a website called Rich Johnson Outdoors at www.richjohnson-outdoors.com. You can watch some of his outdoor survival video clips there. And here's a sample clip to whet your appetite.
Other favorite activities include mountain biking, hiking, scuba diving, and chasing Becky around the garden.
