If you want to build a Gloucester dory, you need this book AND you also need to order the plans, at additional cost. I am sure that with this book AND the plans, you can build a Gloucester dory!

A great book! Payson goes into details that make boat building a successful venture even for the amateur. A must read and reference book for anyone wishing to build the Gull.

Excellent book which can stand by itself to make the light dory but a proper set of plans would be advisable. These are available from Payson's website but it is not an easy page to navigate nor can you buy/pay at the web page. You have to print out an order form and snail mail it in. Amazing how much that interferes with getting the plans.

This is a great product,even if you are a seasoned boat builder you will gain knowledge and understanding in at least some small way,by reading this book.It is full of ideas and hints to make boat building a little bit easier.

I love Harold Payson books! I never would have thought that an average DIYer could build an actual usable boat at home by themselves. The price tag on existing boats (especially several hundred $$$ PLASTIC sporting goods store kayaks) led me to research plans and kits. This book is packed with useful information. I would recommend it to ANYONE thinking of building a small boat (especially a Dory) at home by themselves.

Dynamite knows tis subject and how to teach it. Buy this book and anything else that he has written.
