About the Author

The authors of How to Buy a College Education are partners in The Access Group, Inc. which provides consulting, research, and management services. Meet the partners:

Rochelle (Shelly) K. Diers speaks frequently to groups of students, parents, and professionals about college financing and issues in higher education. She consults on scholarship program development and administration, student financing programs, and support services for students and families. As a university administrator, she managed the financial aid application and awarding process, and directed student loan and work programs. A former college professor and academic administrator, Shelly hold a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota.

Mary L. Hershberger Thun consults with organizations on education loan programs. She designed and implemented financial aid and student loan operations and processes for corporations, schools, and lending institutions. As an executive of national loan guaranty and servicing organizations, she oversaw the successful processing of over $1.5 billion dollars in education loans and financial aid. Mary has an M.S. in Personnel Services from Drake University.

Susan R. Treinen, a nationally known expert on student employment, speaks and consults on college financing and provides technical staffing and college relations support for corporations. As a human resources professional, she has also managed employment, compensation, employee relations, and training functions. As director of Student Employment at the University of Minnesota, she developed a nationally acclaimed program that assisted over 12,000 student a year find part-time jobs to finance their college education. Susan earned a B.A. in French from Kalamazoo College.
