The hook here is a product children know and love, and this small, square volume in the How Are Things Made? series covers quite a lot in its step-by-step account of the manufacturing process. There are also plenty of visuals--a world map showing where the ingredients come from, photos of workers in the fields and in the factories, and pictures of the chocolate bars being wrapped and delivered to the store.^B A photo of a child enjoying a chocolate bar, on the first double-page spread, will draw readers right into the text. This book really should be called "How Is MILK Chocolate Made?" It describes the process of making chocolate but states throughout the book that it has to be made with milk (which is completely inaccurate). Milk is just an optional ingredient along with nuts, dried fruit, etc.
