About the Author

At a very young age, Chappale Linn Burton witnessed the tragic murder of his stepfather and biological mother while playing on the playground in his birthplace of Chicago, Illinois. He has not only forgiven the assailant, but has now dedicated his life to sharing tools and techniques that he used to overcome the negative effects that event could have had on his life. He is now a motivational speaker and coach who currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He has a degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His most notable accomplishments during his time at Pitt were walking onto the Division 1 track team, earning an athletic scholarship, and becoming the most valuable player (MVP) and team captain by his senior year. Chappale started his professional career as a milieu therapist for one of the leading psychiatric hospitals in Pittsburgh before moving on to help people further in his roles as a personal trainer, coach, HR manager and executive recruiter. He has been a student and teacher of self-development principles for the past twenty years, and has helped (and continues to help) many people to make positive choices in their day-to-day lives. You may also benefit from some of the experiences that Chappale shares in his recently released DVD, Creative Ways to Choose Happiness, which was recorded in front of a live audience.

I'd never thought of happiness as a choice but rather as having good luck. This self-empowering book provides great tools to never count on luck again! I had always handled crisis very well yet I also found myself absorbed in crisis for far too long. I CHOSE it for some reason that I am working on now thanks to Mr. Burton's book. I had always been disciplined and hard working... somehow that part shut down. I'm using this insightful book to rethink why I choose what I choose and then make better choices. That's the part that hooked me... not just the wealth of helpful ideas but the challenge Mr. Burton holds out to work on happiness by CHOOSING it. I was choosing destructive behavior, both spiritually and physically, (I'm an alcoholic and started smoking a pack a day) when Mr. Burton's book came into my life.

I am happy relative to the extremely challenging journeys of most people on the planet... yet I haven't been personally happy in years and had not understood that happiness was a choice despite whenever bad things happen... thank you, Mr. Burton. I should've known this because I worked in Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer and despite all the poverty, lack of opportunities and bleak futures I never saw so much happiness with what my friends had and didn't have. I didn't understand they were making a choice. I've already created my "sacred space" to choose happiness.

My mother also read this book (she has decades of work in the field of helping others) and she and I found this book a great synthesis of ideas from many of the best minds in the field of helping others help themselves as well as many new ideas and action steps.

"You have the power to choose happiness now!" What an amazing concept. I had always believed either you were happy or you weren't. This book "How to Choose Happiness ...Most of the Time: 30 ways in 30 days"' by Chappale Linn Burton is an excellent resource that disproves that theory. It is a step-by-step guide that will teach you step by step how to set and achieve goals that will lead to a fulfilling and happy life.

Burton shares his very personal and painful journey that led to the realization that it is possible to overcome any obstacle and be happy. Despite a significant tragedy in his early life he goes on to earn a degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and to become a motivational speaker and coach. This is definitely an author who learned by doing and has the experience and experiences to help others. Even though a good portion of this 192-page book is devoted to his personal story, it lends credence to his qualifications as an expert in "How to Choose Happiness".

His 30 ways in 30 days with 30 actions provide simple, straightforward steps for anyone from any walk of life to let go and develop new, more positive habits and outlooks. Burton also provides a list of additional recommended reading. This book is definitely recommended to anyone who wants to change his or her life!
I can't wait to take the first step.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I feel odd saying that because I'm not typically into feel good/motivational books because I "choose happiness" 90% of the time. However, the title of this book caught my attention, so I took a chance on it. I am SO glad that I took that chance.

This book is different from any book I've read before. Not only is the book fun to read, but it gives an action plan, with exercises, at the end. I finished it in less than one week and it usually takes me at least a month to finish books! I just couldn't put it down.

Not only does the author invite readers in to share very personal parts of his life, he explains, in a reader friendly fashion, what emotional state he was in and the decisions that he CHOSE to make. Covering issues such as dealing with the loss of loved ones, career choices and changes, money and financial struggles, love (the good and the bad), and success and failure, this book makes the average, everyday person know that they are not alone. You will find yourself laughing, then crying, then laughing again!

I now use the action steps given in the book and it has made me more appreciative of everything and everyone in my life. So I encourage every invest in your happiness. Choose this book... and choose happiness now!

I read this book in one day. It is very educational in an entertaining way. I am a happy-go-lucky type of person and this book still taught me a lot. I especially love the 30 Days List ideas to read, write down, and follow through. I am looking forward to starting that part of the book tomorrow. Although I am generally a happy person, I know I can achieve more goals and become a true passionate person about life and my spirit.

I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Become happier by following through with your goals. I know I cannot wait to clean out the clutter in my house to make my mind freer. This is just one goal to achieve from the book. Another goal I have is to complete the book I started writing. This book is very inspirational in helping me get it finished. Whatever your goal is this book will get you on the right track.

You will also learn many ways to help yourself and other people. Live your life to the fullest after reading "How to Choose Happiness...Most of the Time: 30 Ways in 30 Days."
