Book Description

March 4, 2008
In How Come That Idiot s Rich and I m Not? bestselling author Robert Shemin reveals for the first time the inner-circle secrets of the mega-wealthy. Have you ever wondered why some people attract wealth while others stay financially trapped and in debt? The key is wealth-friendly, upside-down thinking. Stick with all the old moneymaking rules and stay broke. Break them and get rich. This is the audiobook that shows you how.

Whether you ve been trying to get rich but haven t quite made it yet, or just need the confidence to dream big, this is the book for you. As experienced as Shemin is at showing high-net-worth individuals how to get richer, his real love is helping self-described financial disasters earn millions. And he uses his own odds-defying story to illustrate the outside-the-box thinking that gets the job done.

Here, you ll learn which three assets you must own to become a Rich Idiot and how to obtain them with little or no money of your own. You ll learn why Rich Idiots outearn almost all the so-called wealth experts and how you can, too. Above all, you ll learn how doing just one thing a day will bring you to your big goal.

Robert Shemin shows us in a fun, witty way how going against the grain is, in fact, the surest way to gain. Spend just a few minutes with Robert and his Rich Idiot friends and you ll be convinced that if they could do it, I can do it.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“A breath of fresh air…Robert Shemin brings to this book a powerful  personal story that commands attention.  He was the class cut-up,  the guy who never fit in exactly, an undiagnosed dyslexic who out  of survival instinct simply decided to make up his own rules — and,  sure enough, riches followed.  Shemin’s key insight is that cultural indoctrination robs most of us of the courage to blaze new  paths — in fact, breeds a ‘play it safe’ follow-the-leader mentality that can be a financial death sentence.  This book is loaded with perspective-altering tips on how to make money outside the rat-race paradigm and leverage the power of relationships in ways no one ever talks about.  If you take to heart the lessons in this book, you will find the abundance you’re searching for.”
—Anthony Robbins, New York Times bestselling author of Awaken the Giant Within, Unlimited Power and Giant Steps

“This book shows the average person not only how to get rich, but create, connect and contribute greatly.  Open the door to a better future now by absorbing what Shemin has to say.”
—Mark Victor Hansen, co-creator, #1 New York Times best selling series Chicken Soup for the Soul® ; co-author, Cracking The Millionaire Code and The One-Minute Millionaire

“If you’ve spent your life doing ‘all the right things’ but still feel like you’re running in place financially, do yourself a favor and buy this book.”
—T. Harv Eker,  author of #1 New York Times Bestseller, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

“Filled with common sense . . . shows that a late-blooming entrepreneur can strike it rich with sound business principles and a flair for taking risks.”
—David Bach, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Automatic Millionare and Start Late, Finish Rich --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Been there done that...Chances are you already know all this, March 12, 2008
By
This is just a rehash of all the same business and real-estate principles already available from everyone from Trump, to "Rich Dad, Poor Dad," to Suze Orzman...Follow these three steps and skip the book: borrow money to buy a house or asset rather than cash, build a business rather than work for someone, etc. etc. If you've already read 1 financial self-help book than you know this stuff already. Time to put into practice rather than waste money reading the same old thing...

By the way, the book was just published a few weeks ago, so interesting that there are already 3 5-star reviews with glowing and uncritical endorsements....Hmm...The author, his brother, and the publisher perhaps? Clearly Mr. Shermin got one business principle right out of the NY Times
...Positive reviews on amazon = $$$$>

1.0 out of 5 stars How to Use Other People 101 - Nothing New, March 14, 2008
This book could have been titled "How to Use People 101" or "How to be a human parasite" and been just as relevant. Let's see...average guy who didn't bother to "play by the rules" like other poor idiots who worked their way through college or became experts in the field. Then throw in (and I quote)How to use other people's ideas, other people's money, other people's time...

For those who have even the slightest level of self respect or integrity - pass. For the rest of you who desire the dollar at any and all cost - this will be right up your alley.

There are MUCH better books out there that give you real advice on how to build wealth without becoming a human parasite; this book isn't about wealth, it's a primer on using people. However, the author is practicing what he preaches - he's using OTHER PEOPLE's ideas that you have heard a million times before. Don't waste your time on this bomb.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another one, March 16, 2008

Shermin does what all the get-rich-quick gurus do:
. he disdains traditional education
. he talks of a lavish lifestyle
. he talks of obtaining or having a beautiful wife
. not needing or having a job.
Just how many gullible people are there? The formula these guys spout generally consists of getting involved in some dubious MLM followed by real estate investment. Exactly what does the author own and where? What are the case details of his last deal? Of course these questions always remain unanswered.
