Review
"It was a quick and easy-to-read reminder of the basics of good listening and counseling. The book also had many terrific tips for leading several different types of groups. How to Create Positive Relationships with Students is a useful daily reference, with much of the information summarized in charts for quick review and easy access." --Debbie Hyslop, Communique, National Association of School Psychologists
"In this very readable, totally nontechnical text, we are introduced to a repertoire of games and activities for youthful audiences. The aim is to teach new skills and self-understanding while having fun at the same time, and this applies to both pupil and teacher." --Cyril M. Franks, Child & Family Behavior Therapy
"How to Create Positive Relationships with Students offers a compelling approach that reaches out to engage the whole child. . . This book is written for teachers, guidance counselors, parents, and others who work with children. It would also be a useful handbook for mental health professionals who, like Karns, provide consultative services to schools. It is intended for use with preadolescent and adolescent youth, but could be adapted for use with younger children." --Linda Wooton Margerum, Social Work with Groups
