I am currently finishing my first mandala from this book. The instructions are very clear. This is a great starter book for mandala drawing if you like geometric, structured designs. If you like mandalas that have more of a flowing look to them with organic and biomorphic shapes you probably won't like this book. I personally like both styles so I've found this book enjoyable. Also, reading the author's biography is inspiring. Ms. Bartfeld seems like a person with lots of kindness in her and one can feel that in her writing and presentation. For content, this book deserves five stars. For physical presentation I had to rate it four stars. The printers who printed the book for Ms. Bartfeld were very unprofessional. They made corrections to printed text by simply slapping labels with the correct text over the misprints and errors. This method is sloppy looking and amateurish. My advice to you, Ms. Bartfeld, is to find yourself a different printing company. Your book is delightful and deserves better treatment.

This book has very good directions on how to draw mandalas. If someone was desiring a good geometrical foundation from which to begin practicing drawing mandalas, this would be a good source. It contains very little of the mystical role mandalas can have for people. In that regard, I found it disappointing.

This book is just wonderful. I bought it a few weeks ago and am finding that the instructions are clear, without excess wordiness. If you want a book on how to make this type of mandala, this is a terrific one. She doesn't expound on spirituality or get side-tracked in any way. This is a very, very good how-to book. I am very glad I bought this book and am going to buy more for family members.
