5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable to our homeschool library, January 22, 2002

This review is from: How to Create Your Own Unit Study (Paperback)
I was dissatisfied with what I was seeing on the market in the expensive curriculum area. They were incomplete, wanting you to purchase the math seperately, the history seperately, going anywhere from 300-1000 for one child one year! This book helped me to create a full range curriculum, geared to the tastes and learning style of my two children, encompassing every aspect of what you get in those prepackaged things, including art, music, theatre, poetry, math, reading, creative writing, and an extensive history which is usually lacking in the ones we checked into. This one book saved us thousands of dollars. Pair it with one of the books that tell what your child should know by their grade level and those are all you need to make your own curriculum over theme units that will keep your kids loving to learn for a lifetime.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful whether you do unit studies or not, April 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Create Your Own Unit Study (Paperback)
I've only done a few unit studies over the years ... they're a lot of work. But the ideas here are very helpful, whether you do unit studies or not, for integrating subjects to some degree. If you've toyed with the idea of using unit studies but aren't sure, this book will give you a clear idea of whether or not they're for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars create your own is much better than prepurchased!!!, May 19, 2009
This review is from: How to Create Your Own Unit Study (Paperback)
create your own unit study is a great how to guide. I think it is better to create your own because you can use books already in your personal library and so you end up saving lots of money. and your kids can tell you what they want to learn about!!! Then you can incorporate all your subjects into that topic. The kids read better and want to read if it is something they are pationate about. If you are considering homeschooling or switching the way you do your homeschool i would recommend reading this book.
