This review is from: How to Design & Build a Vegetable Garden [VHS] (VHS Tape)
It had been more than thirty years since I planted a vegetable garden. During that time I had moved from the dry cool climate of my native Colorado to humid and often hot central Ohio. When I decided to start gardening again I knew it would be different now than what I remembered, and things change (even in the world of vegies) in thirty years. So I decided it was time to school myself in the finer points of vegetable gardening. I went to the library and found this video on the shelf in the gardening section. After viewing it I purchased it. With its timed program (table of contents) it lets you find, in seconds, exactly what you need at any given moment. Jeff Ball demonstrates step-by-step how to design and build a vegetable garden. He gives tips that enable you to start your vegies outdoors up to six weeks earlier than your neighbors and to contine harvesting for a few weeks after the first frost. There are even tips about how to grow cool weather vegies like leaf lettuce well into the summer. Mr. Ball doesn't just tell you how to do the job, he demonstrates each step. Other helps in this video show how to determine the type of soil you have, how to determine if you have enough drainage, how to compost, how to easily install a drip irrigation system, and more.
