Book Description

Following God Discipleship Series March 1, 2004

One of the greatest joys and comforts in a Christian's life comes through personal time spent with God. What an awesome privilege it is to meet with Him every day, to come confidently into His presence.

In Hebrews 10:19-22 we read, "Therefore, brethren, since we have  confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,... let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."  Because of what Jesus did on the cross two thousands years ago, we need not approach God in fear and trembling, for our hearts are sprinkled clean and our bodies washed. The application is strong and unambiguous: "LET US DRAW NEAR!"

How to develop a Quiet Time is a forty-day journey of structured devotions, guided prayer, and personal application. Each week of the study centers on an important element to a personal relationship with God. Each day's adventure takes you to the Scriptures for guided self-discovery as it transitions you toward the daily habit of quietly meeting with God. This unique addition to the Following God Discipleship Series will serve as an excellent jumpstart to anyone who has ever struggled with the concept of a daily quiet time with God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing study, April 28, 2007
By
This review is from: How to Develop a Quiet Time: Life Principles for Meeting with God (Following God Discipleship Series) (Paperback)
This study was as rewarding as the Daniel Study I also recently finished by Beth Moore. The teaching comes from the bible and every day I came away with a new piece of wisdom from studying God's word in this daily question and answer format that makes you think. I'm online today because I'm looking for more of these books in the same format. It helps me focus my bible study. I would recommend this to anyone - milk or meat seekers.

I've read a lot of books but not a lot of " how to" books on having a relationship with the Lord. I liked this book very much because it was well organized and gave a lot of detailed info. Always backing up with scripture.
Everyone talks about having a relationship but there are a few that actually show you how. Of course everyones relationship with God is unique- but this book helps you get grounded.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good study, August 24, 2010

I love the studies in this series that I have already purchased. The author (Rasnake) has a great way of wording things that really make you think. "How to Develop a Quiet Time" is a a shorter study than the usual 13 weeks - it is only 40 days (7 weeks). Although I found it to be very insightful and thought provoking, the format seemed repetitive and by the end of the study, I really felt like I was simply repeating what I had written on previous days. Still, it was a good study.
