4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, mostly credible, but hard to verify.
After reading this book, I spent hours at the public library copying obituaries of baby boys who were born and died around my birthday. I wanted to prepare myself to assume another identity one day. It was a delicious obsession, and exhilarating.

I have never done anything with them, and wonder how hard it would be to get certified copies of birth certificates...

3.0 out of 5 stars If you're thinking about disappering....
....this book is a start. I don't think it gives you all of the tools that you will need. As you will learn through reading the book, there are several instances of mere chance where a person was given the opportunity to disappear and took advantage of it. However, some of the tools they give you will help a lot. An interesting read but there are books that will help...

After reading this book, I spent hours at the public library copying obituaries of baby boys who were born and died around my birthday. I wanted to prepare myself to assume another identity one day. It was a delicious obsession, and exhilarating.

I have never done anything with them, and wonder how hard it would be to get certified copies of birth certificates without identification. Plus, how does one make absolutely sure the birth and death records are not cross referenced?

This book needs to be updated very bady. So many new technologies are being used in ID today, and I simply cannot trust that the information is reliable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thin, a bit out-dated, but all the necessary facts are there, December 26, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found (Paperback)
The stories are almost as thin as the book, but most of the necessary facts are there, and they still work. If you're a Paper Trip fan, save yourself a few bucks by getting this one instead. Same info but with less BS and padding, and at least 10 years more recent. (Still 12 years old, though.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining!!, November 30, 2000
This review is from: How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found (Paperback)
"How to Disapperar" is an entertaining and fun book. It is easily a one-night read. It is full of concrete dos and donts for someone wanting to escape and form a new identity. It is heavier on the dont's(ie:don't take your car with you, don't take a "public" job as a bartender or bellman,etc.). Whether one can use the helpful hints in real life is another matter. It is also questionable how current this all is, since "How to" was published in 1986. The "helpful" bibliography also appears out of date. The tale is somewhat thin and could even be considered somewhat sexist-all those guys are running away from evil wives! No matter! Buy the book and entertain yourself for a few hours. This one could be a great stocking stuffer for Christmas!! And if you want to run away in real life, find a human expert.

I found this book pretty inspiring and I could personally relate to some of the content which has happened to me within the past year or so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the cover., August 19, 2011
I bought a copy of this book, put it down on the coffee table, and when I came back twenty minutes later it had gone and I've not seen it since.

Fantastic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Krys Ky, how do you get online from in 'the pen'?, April 17, 2002
By A Customer

So there is this guy claiming to have read this book in one night and expected it to work. First off, it would take some time to properly execute the plans included in this volume.
Secondly, hiding yourself and being found by the feds the next morning simply prove that he didn't hide very well, if he actually DID get busted. People follow a pattern; this book is all about breaking that pattern. Additionally, if the person who
wrote that review really got busted by the feds, he would more than likely be in a federal prison. Federal agents don't usually
go after people for things other than federal crime. San Quentin
is a state prison of the California penal system, the CDC. So I would have to say ignore that person, for they are full of it.
Check this book out if you want to get away from it all. Just remember to do your homework, and cross-reference what you find here with other sources!

Great book, it gives you information in a lot of detail. The books in the reference section at the end of the book are out of date though, at least some of them are. A great read, extremely interesting.

This is an excellent reference book for those contemplating a disappearance or as a gift for deserving individuals. I just sent a copy to Justin Bieber.
