Complete Beginners Book,

This is the book to get if you want to use FrontPage 2000 but don't know what things are and/or what they do.The author clearly explains each function of the program then goes on to teach you how to use it. He seems to intuitively recognize stumbling blocks and clearly points them out ahead of time.

Well Done!,
By Charlene Doonan (Pleasant Prairie, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Do Everything with FrontPage 2000 (Spiral-bound)
It reads as though the author was talking to me on an intelligent level yet in a light-hearted manner and demonstrates through the use of graphics to get his point across. Typography and page layout well done and easy to find whatever I'm looking for. The author does really well writing and publishing but as far as his companion Website, I suggest he hire a graphic designer. It needs lots of help.

I bought this book to learn more about the functionality FP2K has with databases and learned a lot! This along with Front Page for Dummies should be all you need.

For a book about Web sites to have such a shabby Web site is disturbing. There is no mention of Meta tags, which are very important to the success of a web site. It doesn't tell you the easy way of dragging to create bookmarks. It is also mentioned that DHTML will not work without the FrontPage server extensions when, I believe, DHTML is a browser function. I sent it back.

Complete on topics, lacking in detail,

If you want to know what Frontpage 2000 can do, this book is very complete. However, if you are already familiar with Frontpage, this book is shallow in detail, especially with advanced topics. I was constantly wishing it provided more detailed information about certain topics such as trouble-shooting form handling and publishing from within Frontpage, and creating Active Server Pages.
