5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best Visor book!, November 6, 2000
This review is from: How to Do Everything with Your Visor (Paperback)
This is all the information that should be included when you buy your visor! Most companies now package help files on computers and do not include written documentation. I suppose it is cheaper. But shame on them! This is what should be included with the purchase... I had my visor for a few months and this booked helped me with things I didn't know. Excellent information written in a pleasing, even humorous, manner equals a very thourough readable book. I would go so far to say that this is indispensable. I have the book... the dummies guide to the visor and while that was helpful this is much more so. The book for visors "i didnt know you could do that.." is not helpful at all. It is mostly a list of shareware links that are easy to find on the internet or in the two books i meantioned above. Save yourself some wondering and scratching your head...if you have the visor....buy this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars This book helps a lot!, October 27, 2000

This review is from: How to Do Everything with Your Visor (Paperback)
In a bookstore, I read the other book about learning the Handspring Visor, but I liked this one better. It's laid out better and is easier to understand. I love my Visor, but I felt that I did not know enough about it to get the most out of it. Looking around on the CD that was packed with the Visor was really not any help. I wanted to get into the 'guts' of this little computer, and with this book I have.

Only an hour after I bought this book, I had put in my personal info. and set up my Visor in a way that, if lost, someone turning it on would see only one screen--with my personal info, (name, phone number, etc) so that I could get the Visor back in my hands. If I hadn't bought this book, I wouldn't know this. I also learned that the times of the cities in 'City Time' were all wrong for the area of the the country I live in. I decided to set my local city to NYC and the time zones automatically reset. I learned how to set up new categories in most of the files making the Visor work for me, instead of my having to put things in pre-defined files. These few things are just the beginning of what can be done with the Visor. The book also lists some cool Palm apps I'm planning to try. I wish though, that the software had been rated by the authors so I could quickly decide which apps to try and which ones to skip. For this omission, I give the book 4 stars.

In all, a very well-written book which I consider an investment in my Visor. If you are even a little confused about using your Visor, buy this book and make your Visor work more efficiently for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Should replace the manual..., December 11, 2000

Especially since there is no real manual with the Visor, only the PDF document, this should replace it. The authors are both witty and informative. And the information is exactly what is needed for the new owner of a Handspring Visor. My only wish would be that this book be included in the box when you buy a new Visor.
