How to Draw Manga: Ultimate Manga Lessons August 8, 2006
Action is an integral component of manga. Manga without action lacks impact. Yet, some find themselves at a loss as to how to portray speed and dramatization techniques. This book teaches such beginning artists techniques used by professional Japanese manga artists. A must-have!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lil book of Helpful Hints, June 10, 2007
This review is from: How To Draw Manga: Ultimate Manga Lessons Volume 5: A Touch of Dynamism (v. 5) (Paperback)
This book may be small in stature but chalk full of good pointers and reference material! Out of the 4-5 or so books I have referencing body dynamics or people in various action poses, I'd have to say this one is oneof the top 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Basics of Portraying Action, March 16, 2010
This review is from: How To Draw Manga: Ultimate Manga Lessons Volume 5: A Touch of Dynamism (v. 5) (Paperback)
The actual subtitle of this book is "The Basics of Portraying Action." This is one of the best books I've found on depicting action scenes.

Objectives of this volume:
"To have the reader of this volume master the techniques in using close-ups to stop time (i.e. draw the manga reader's eye), to learn to portray fast and slow motions using lines."

Get this book if you have trouble rendering action or battle scenes. There's also some very good references for hands, feet, and emotions a character might display during a fight. I'm going to list the contents so that you can get a better idea of what's in this book.
