This review is from: How To Draw Nintendo Heroes And Villains (Paperback)
I bought this book for my ten-year-old son who is a dedicated "Nintendo person" and wants to learn to draw some of his favorite characters. The author and illustrator have taken some of these animated figures and have shown how to develop drawings by breaking the overall process down into three stages. The first step is to get the basic shapes/perspectives correct, and then the details are filled in over the next two steps. This is a tried and true approach to drawing, but for some of the more complex characters even the very first "perspective and shapes" sketch is kind of difficult for kids to do correctly. Consequently, I think that an additional, even more basic stage/step might have been helpful. My son reports that he's happy with the book because it includes Krool and Link, the personalities he most wanted to draw. At only 32 pages, however, this short guide clearly is not comprehensive, and there is no guarantee that a particular Nintendo personality a child may have in mind will be included here. Still, overall, this is an extremely useful book and certainly the only one of its kind. My son has already spent hours in deep concentration practicing his sketching, and I think that in itself is quite an endorsement of the work offered here by Mr. Teitlebaum and Mr. Zalme.

Nintendo Needs Work on How To Draw Books.,
By Falco (Scottsdale, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How To Draw Nintendo Heroes And Villains (Paperback)
I found this book very enjoyable, but the books seems to short. I could use more pictures on some of the characters that lacked a body tutorial. Like Wario, the book only teaches you to draw his mug, and I want more than that! Some characters needed more poses, and some were just plain excluded from the book. Like Lanky, or Funky, or Cranky from Donkey Kong 64. Do not get me wrong, I love this book, but it is somewhat lacking in the selection of poses. This book has tedious drawing instructions, but if you are a Nintendo fan, and are persistent, this book is for you!

My kids love the classic Nintendo games, and this easy, step-by-step guide helped them learn to draw their favorite Nintendo heroes (and bad guys). Lots of drawing fun at an affordable price.

How to Draw Nintendo Heroes and Villains,
This review is from: How to Draw Nintendo Heroes and Villains (Paperback)
If you've read the previous reviews then I'd like to clear up some of the confusion. This book obviously does not contain all the Nintendo universe in its 31 pages. This book may not contain your or possibly your child's favorite Nintendo hero or villain. What it does is take some of the most well known characters from Nintendo's quite diverse array of franchises and teach you how to draw them.
The characters distinguished are: *Mario *Luigi *Princess Toadstool (Peach otherwise) *Toad *Yoshi *Kerog (for those of you wondering who the heck that is, it's Bowser (otherwise known by many other names)) *Wario *Donkey Kong *Diddy Kong *Tiny (ape heroine; DK 64) *Chunky (ape hero; DK 64) *Snide (villain; DK 64) *King K. Rool *Link *Zelda (Princess Zelda) *Armos (villain; LOZ series) *Lizalfos (villain; LOZ series) Now I'm not going to say that this is the greatest drawing book, but it does aid in the drawing of these characters. To say that it has no teaching potential is not true. It's true some of these are "harder" to draw than others but the book does a great job in teaching easy to use methods in drawing each character.

This is a really good book with lots of charecters. If you have played a lot of video games and have tried to draw the charecters but couldn't you NEED this book.

Great book, and the characters in the book are great. We give it a 4 1/2 star, as my son said he expected it to have more characters, but the ones in there are good. Included are Mario,Luigi,Princess Toadstool,Toad, Yoshi,Kerog,Wario,Donkey Kong,Diddy Kong,Tiny Kong,Chunky Kong, Snide,King K. Rool, Link,Zelda, Armos, and Lizalfos.
My son wanted to learn to draw Kirby and some of the newer ones but all in all a good book.

How To Draw Nintendo Heroes and Villains,
This review is from: How to Draw Nintendo Heroes and Villains (Paperback)
I received exactly what I ordered in a very timely manner. My seven year old wanted to purchase it at his bookfair at school, but it sold out. He was ecstatic, but only drew one picture, because it was a little advanced for him.

It is very easy for me to draw these heroes and villains. It really tells you how to do it. I admit its not the best,I enjoy to draw you know. Everybody at my school is dropping there jaw when I draw. Its a little to easy though. It should be a little bit longer but its okay. Im just glad I bought this book! It can teach you to draw fast. Link is very easy, Yoshi is super easy yet funny looking, and Mario is easy. They are the best ones in the book. If you cant draw these Im sorry!Just keep trying if you cant get it. Its just easy!
