4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
This was a gift for my grandson who is currently drawing everything in sight
I purchased the book to encourage him to try new ways of seeing people, and to get him to draw things other than Thomas the Tank engine. It worked

2.0 out of 5 stars not what I expected
I just received this book for my daughter. She hasn't seen it yet, as this is part of an art package that I was putting together for Christmas. I bought it based on the reviews. Boo! You only get four steps to teach you how to draw something. Some of the pictures need more than four steps, I think. I guess I thought I was getting a little more instruction. Like I said she...

Fun book on doodling characters. My kids love it and the step by step process makes your doodles look really good. Great book for a kid who wants to say goodbye to stick figures!

My children, ages 9 and 10 have enjoyed using this book since they received it for Christmas. It's a great early tutorial on drawing.

No, I am not trying to sell you an insurance. But this book can be the beginning of a great relationship between you child and his pencil doodles. Don't miss this opportunity to buy other books from this author. Also, you can get the ART FOR KIDS: CARTOONING by Art Roche. If you think your child could someday replace Charles M. Schulz or Stan Lee this is the book to get. I did. You can even have some fun trying to draw and making up stories. Well, I hope you or your child gets famous. Good Luck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and encouraging for young children, December 29, 2010

Very simple, all you need is a pencil and the book. Easy to follow, so children will not give up quickly.

Why not 5 *: A better book to me would provide basic theory understandable by childrent and then follow with practice. This one has only pictures followed by blank pages

My daughter is nine and loves to draw. This book gave her a lot of confidence. The pictures are cute and simple. Once she memorizes this book, I will buy her another one from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars drawing book, January 6, 2010

It's a great book for beginners. It uses simple shapes(circles, squares, rectangles) to produce simple, completed step-by-step drawings. I've drawn some of them myself(60 yrs. old) and I think younger, artistically inclined children could do them too.

This wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but the book itself is great. I was looking for a teaching book on how to draw actual people's faces. This is a great start for the beginner, though.

I got this for my 7 year old nephew who loves to draw and is always trying to get things just right. He immediately grabbed a pencil and started drawing the different items in the book. They are easy to follow and not frustrating. Great gift!
