I swear you will laugh and cry and love it.
Marlana
It's filled with action, fantasy adventure, fights, dragon humor, great dialogue, great characters and lets not forget the awesome romance!
Stephanie Leroux
Still a good story overall but more for catching up with the other characters from previous books than the actual story line.

I read a lot of series but this is my favorite. I understand that some people are disappointed with the romance in this book but these are not really romantic books, none of the couples had a really romantic storyline. The star of this series is the whole crazy dysfunctional family unit and they are hilarious and at times heartwarming but they are not exactly romantics. So considering Eibhear and Izzy grew up around these people their romance makes sense. If you want serious, warm romance, this is not the series for you, but if you want to laugh out loud and fall in love with a crazy dysfuntional family you will want to read this series.

Izzy and Eibhear's story has been building for many books now and within the scope of the series, many years now. How To Drive a Dragon Crazy picks up about 10 years after the events in the previous book, The Dragon Who Loved Me, and Eibhear is one changed dragon. He still has his ever famous blue hair, but he's been fighting as a group leader in the Mi-runach. The Mi-runach are a deadly group of warriors who are feared and take on the fights and killing that other dragons would probably run from. Eibhear has been with this group for ten years until he's ordered to go to the location where Izzy and her troops are currently fighting and escort her home. He does and it's the first time he's seen her in ten years, and their bickering banter picks right back up.

First, the romance. This was disappointment for me. It's not uncommon in this series for the lead romance to take a back seat to everything else going on. But with the build-up we had for Izzy and Eibhear, I guess I just expected more. Gone is the Eibhear from the past, always keeping Izzy at arms length. They bicker and annoy each other and then hello, start having sex. I'm honestly torn about how I feel. On the one hand, it absolutely fits with this series. Romance, while it's there between the dragons and their mates, it has never felt like the main storyline. But I still feel like it's a bit of letdown overall for them. Their dialogue, and the dialogue in general in this series, is always fast paced, snarky, sarcastic, and that's of course present and had me laughing out loud many times throughout the story. But where there was conflict in the past (Izzy being with Celyn for example) that's completely not present here.

Eibhear has been charged with escorting little Izzy back home to Garbhan Isle. Sounds simple enough but Eibhear hasn't seen Izzy in 10 years and they didn't part of good terms. Now a general in queen Annwyl's army, Izzy hasn't forgotten the hurtful things Eibhear said to her and plans to make him suffer for it. Surprise to her, Eibhear's feelings have changed and when given a mission that will take her to the Desert Lands, he's by her side and ready to fight, and warm her bed, whether she likes it or not.

Eibhear and Izzy are one of those pairs you wait for in a series to have their own book. Izzy is the adoptive daughter of Eibhear's brother and I laughed when she or the others would tease at something happening between them because he considered her family and that was unacceptable. Now 10 years later, Eibhear has admitted to himself that he wants Izzy. She gets on his nerves by continually calling him her dear uncle so when they finally have their first sexual encounter, I was a little creeped out. I didn't expect to feel that way because I wanted them to be together but I think now that the family thing has been dragged out so long, it ended up being more weird than hot.

Rhianwen, Izzy's sister, is having a difficult time controlling her powers. Having no other option, her mother Talaith sends Izzy to find her mother Haldane, a Nolwenn Witch, the only person who can help Rhi before she accidentally hurts someone. Since Haldane threw Talaith out on the streets when she was 16 and pregnant, Izzy isn't thrilled with this assignment. Rhi's a sweet girl, something that's rare in that family, and she has been doing powerful things since she was young. She'll always to be a big part of this series so I'm enjoying getting to see her at a young and unstable age.

And I must admit I'm a little disappointed. Well, I actually liked the action and humor in this book. But the ROMANCE between Izzy and Eibhear was almost non-existent. And after the build up for this couple over the last few books, it could have/ should have been so much more!

From previous books, we've watched Izzy grow from a passionate teenager to a mighty warrior in Annwyl's army. She's strong, skilled, and a great fighter. But her father Briec still sees her one of his "Perfect Perfect Daughters". It's been 10 years since she's seen Eibhear. And in that time, they both have matured...well, somewhat.

Eibhear has become a member of the Queen's Hit Squad, the Mi-Runach. He's good at what he does and has no complaints. He realizes that he was wrong for the way he treated Izzy years ago and wants her forgiveness. But, it wouldn't be Izzy if she didn't make him sweat a little first. They go on a quest together to try to find someone to help train Izzy's younger sister Rhi. During this time, we find out more about Eibhear and Izzy and their abilities.

Like all G A. Aiken/Shelly Laurenston books, it was HILIARIOUS!!! I couldn't stop laughing. It's always funny when the dragon brothers fight and Eibhear plays the victim. And Izzy using Rhi's hugs as a form of torture for some of the family members had me in tears. The action was great also. I loved seeing strong women work together, defend themselves, and those around them.

But my problem with this book is that the romance that I had been waiting for WAS NOT THERE!!! We've watched Izzy and Eibhear dance around their attraction for each other through several books. And now that they have their own book, we spend more time reading about the side characters and their issues.
