Bob and Weave,

This review is from: How to Duck a Suckah: A Guide to Living a Drama-Free Life (Paperback)
How To Duck A Suckah by Big Boom, a reformed pimp and self-professed body guard for women's hearts, gives advice on how to do just that; duck a suckah. While explaining the differences between suckahs and playas, Boom boasts of knowing the game because he lived it, though not regretfully. Who better to learn this type of skill from than someone who has played? Why not count them as lessons learned in order to fulfill His mission? Yes... His mission. Boom's passages preach empowerment, success, and happiness among women and their relationships. He gives common examples and suggest `tests' to detect suckahs and/or playas but not without giving thanks to his higher power for allowing him to be able to speak to women positively. Boom even provides tips on empowering soon-to-be women, what it means to be a lady, and tapping into internal strength during trying times.
While the effort was grand, Big Boom delivered a guide that can be most helpful to young women. Some of the techniques used by suckahs and playas that were described are common knowledge for most older and mature women. With Boom revealing his background, I felt a certain degree of trust in what he was writing but it lost some of its validity in a passage regarding abusive relationships. It is obvious there is limited knowledge on the subject as some of solutions given could create more danger for a victim of abuse. Still, there were very precious jewels between the covers. One of the most memorable of them for me is when he writes: The graveyard is full of brand new gifts that have never been touched before. Make sure you open yours before you die. This manual is from a big heart and you can tell in the conversational tone of the book and how he continually asks his readers to hear him out. People who are looking for a good pick-up-your-spirits guide and those who are looking for validation that they have a suckah on their hands would thoroughly enjoy this book. Players No More,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: How to Duck a Suckah: A Guide to Living a Drama-Free Life (Paperback)
This book is tight. Tells the secrets of how the players think, manipulate, lie, cheat, and ways they will us to get the ladies to give "it" up. From a former player himself, Big Boom, tells his story and all the player rules to help the ladies eliminate the game and find the real men who are looking for a really good woman. Even after reading the book, I spotted some of the "gamers" and put a halt to all of their manuvering. A really interesting read.

I have to say, I saw this book at Walmart, and I just had to get a copy right then and there, and I really like it. Boom has some really interesting insights on relationships. I liked the one suggestion about making a man pray when your alone together more like an ice breaker and test so to speak.Good book to check out if your working on relationships.

20 years behind,
This review is from: How to Duck a Suckah: A Guide to Living a Drama-Free Life (Paperback)
I am recently divorced and was married for over 20 years. I had very little dating experience prior to my marriage. This book really helped me to identify players and also taught me what men are looking for in women and what a women should look for in a man.

Good Advice and Breakdown of the Different Types of Suckahs,

I like this book. It was easy to read and conversational in tone. It was like a big brother or uncle giving me advice. I love how Big Boom jumps right into it and in Chapter 2 he breaks down the different types of suckahs from the Preacher Types to the Down Low men.
He challenges women to develop their self esteem and wait for Mr. Right instead of settling for Mr. Right Now. He also challenges women to investigate men more and warns of the dangers in letting men know where you live too soon, having sex too soon and of the dangers of exposing them to your children too soon. The questions he lists in the Appendix are really deep and require you to do some soul searching in order to answer them. I think that those who really invest the time in doing this exercise will learn a great deal about themselves (possibly things they'd never considered before) and this will help you regarding your future choices in selecting a mate.

Big Boom keeps it plain simple and truthful. I am now fully armed and can spot the no-good man right from jump. No more time wasting on the wrong man! :-)

The "Dueling Sucka's",

I have a co-worker who picked up this book because of all the "hoopla" of the author being on the Steve Harvey morning radio show and I reviewed this book after she read it and (to me) it has some of the same things that the book "Sucka Free Love" by Debra Cooper talked about (that I have also read). The view points on dating and experiences women face in dating are related the same in each book, only Ms. Cooper was the 1st to share this with & entitle it with similar language "Sucka/Suckah". I can't discredit any work that Big Boom has done but the similarities in this title would make you think that he has copied it from the title of Ms. Cooper's book or it has been regurgitated (re*gur*gi*tate - Function: verb: to become thrown or poured back transitive senses: to throw or pour back or out from or as if from a cavity.) from the title to the story line. Ms. Cooper gives accounts in her book based of facts of dating from the female perspective and Big Boom's story/book is being told based on a "reformed pimp/player".
My choice regarding the dueling "Sucka/Suckah's" would be: Sucka Free Love - How to Avoid Dating The Dumb, The Deceitful, The Dastardly, The Dysfunctional and The Deranged!

I'm on my way to get the book. But what strikes me is the similarities to another book I read:Sucka Free Love - How to Avoid Dating The Dumb, The Deceitful, The Dastardly, The Dysfunctional and The Deranged!, By Deborrah Cooper. The theme is the same, the cover (using a hand) is "extremely familiar" and the usage of the term Sucka/Suckah? Obviously Ms. Cooper is the original and this is a attempt to emulate. I am not reviewing the details of the book, just the overall theme, idea, cover etc. Ms. Coopers book was her first effort, this is his second. He should still have fresh ideas, with no need to duplicate another author. I am not a hater, just an observer!!!
