5.0 out of 5 stars Very Very helpful in my job.
I installed Acrobat 6 and began working on a project. I thought it would be like working with a typical word processor, how wrong I was. I am glad I was able to use this book to point out how there is so much more Acrobat does.

I found out how to integrate Acrobat with Office, how I can create PDFs in Acrobat and how Acrobat works in creation of web pages and...

2.0 out of 5 stars The operative word here is "Lightweight"
I'm still searching for a really amazing, knock my socks off Adobe Acrobat book, that will take me beyond what I could find in the Acrobat help, or figure out myself. I can capably make a PDF from Word or any other application, I don't care about embedding multimedia, and I still see a sore need to find a book that covers forms really well. This book fails both the...

This review is from: How to Do Everything with Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0 (Windows) (Paperback)
I installed Acrobat 6 and began working on a project. I thought it would be like working with a typical word processor, how wrong I was. I am glad I was able to use this book to point out how there is so much more Acrobat does.

I found out how to integrate Acrobat with Office, how I can create PDFs in Acrobat and how Acrobat works in creation of web pages and websites.

The book has a wealth of information on conversion from one format to another, multimedia, printing and something I never knew you could do create search queries.

The book has taught me several things in a short time frame and overall I found this book very useful.

I can capably make a PDF from Word or any other application, I don't care about embedding multimedia, and I still see a sore need to find a book that covers forms really well. This book fails both the breadth test and the depth test; it might as well be one of the "dummies" books. Thanks for nothing!

I purchased this book for an overview of Acrobat 6.0. While there is some good info, too much is not explained fully. There are constant cross references "see chapter 8", no page reference and the bulk of the book is for the pro version. The author spends a lot of time using fancy nomenclature (not technical terms) instead of offering better tips. I would love to see a Special Edition Using Acrobat from Que Publishing. That series is excellent for learning software. I will look for a better book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, it tells ALMOST everything..., July 19, 2004

Not bad. Certainly contains a lot of information. It didn't help me figure out how to prevent photo quality loss when sending a file to a print shop (well, it told me why it happened but it didn't tell me exactly how to fix it). However... there are lots of neat tricks and tips for other Acrobat uses. It explained all the options in Distiller and that was helpful. I think we'll get use out of the book at our office... but I'm a little disappointed. It was probably worth the money though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bare Bones Approach, July 12, 2005
This review is from: How to Do Everything with Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0 (Windows) (Paperback)
I had neither the time nor the inclination to learn Acrobat 6.0. Unfortunately, I did have the need to learn it. I took a new approach for me. I ordered this book, gave it to my nephew to learn (I paid for his time) and told him to learn the program forward and backward. He was then to give me an "executive summary" type of instruction and I would rely on him to do anything beyond the basics. The approach worked, after a fashion but I could have chosen a better text. He learned the basics of the program well. The advanced capabilities were not thoroughly addressed.

In his words: found the "How to Do Everything with Adobe Acrobat 6.0" instructional book to be helpful to an extent. It did a good job instilling the basics but once you reach a certain point you begin to lose understanding for lack of actual interaction with the program. Many instructional guides come with an exercise disc that allows you to participate in different exercises and projects that better your understanding of the program. This particular guide does not, and as a result it is harder to understand certain topics. It has good examples and good illustrations but the lack of hands on experience is crucial.

In short, I am satisfied, barely.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK SAVED MY LIFE!, July 1, 2003
This review is from: How to Do Everything with Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0 (Windows) (Paperback)
I am a professional trainer of a large corporation. I was asked to train over 300 employees in advanced Acrobat. The Classroom in a Book was useless and there are few resources for people such as myself to turn to. I happened to stumble on this book on amazon. I noticed it was selling well. I ordered it and read it within 3 days. It answered questions that had been plaguing me for years on PDF Writer and all the little ins and outs on Distiller. It was an easy read and the author has a light and entertaining style that makes it a pleasure to read. This book really saved me from embarressment. In fact, I made it required reading in my course. I highly recommend it for anyone who needs to fully emerse themselves in this technology.

Since the Adobe Acrobat program is not too involved, the format of this short book is a perfect fit for the program discussed.
