How to Do Everything with Your Treo 600

I'll admit it. I'm an early adapter. I try (sometimes unsuccessfully) to wait at least a month before buying the latest toy. I think I managed 3 weeks with my Treo600. So by the time I got this book, I'd had it a good 8 months and I honestly thought I'd figured out all the tricks. Wrongo!

I first skipped here and there - actually, I first looked for my name. [Disclaimer, there is a little sidebar about my using my Treo for mobblogging - the authors posted a request for examples of interesting Treo use and I submitted it. My sidebar is one of the very many from real people who provide great examples.]

But, soon, I gave up and just read the thing from cover to cover. I would read a tip, whip out my Treo and give it a try and go on to the next one. I love learning new stuff.

But, I think the person who is a bit anxious about trying new things and/or a little afraid of their new Treo600 is the person who really really needs this book. It is very easy to follow. Very friendly. Very informative. And a great reference.

I found the Treo manual very helpful and much more detailed than the owners manual. The tips I discovered were more than worth the price of the book. I recommend it to all Treo owners!

This book covers the things that should have been covered by the manuals that come with the Treo. Well illustrated and clearly written, but there is no real "extra" material inside. It does cover some of the accessories and software available from the secondary market however.
I guess I was hoping for some of the tricks and hacks that I've seen on the web to be collected into this book.
If you are new to the Treo and Palm OS, this is still a good resource to learn with.

It is hard to assign a rating to this book - it is totally useless to me because my Palm Treo is a 700x with Windows Mobile and not a 700p - pardon me for being a bit new to the Palm world and missing the significance of that little letter.
There is a disclaimer on page xxi - that this book is for Palm OS Treo Owners only and not for Windows Mobile Treos - but that fact is not obvious in any description or review - hence the reason I am writing this one.

I gave it 3 stars as a neutral rating - I'm sure the book will be helpful to some who have the device it was meant for.. that just isn't me.

I found this book helpful. Though I didn't care for the phone, it did help me understand the functions I needed at the time.

This book covers everything a beginner would need to know to get the most out of the 700P. They even include tips on 700Ps made by different manufacturers. I would recommend this book for the new buyer of the Palm system Smart Phones and I believe sven the veteran user could pick up tips from it.

THE BOOK WAS GOOD BUT I WANTED A PHONE I COULD OPERATE. THE PHONE DOES TOO MUCH, BUT THE BOOK TELLS YOU HOW TO OPERATE IT. THIS REVIEW IS ON THE BOOK AND THE BOOK WAS VERY GOOD, AND IN GOOD SHAPE. THE PHONE IS TOO MUCH AND I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A MUCH SIMPLER PHONE. I HAD A SAMSUNG XV8300 AND I LOST IT. I WOULD RATHER HAVE MY OLD PHONE BACK.

Information is generic does not really provide the information you buy a book for. Example it only has 3 1/2 pages on (SMS) text messageing most of which you can figure out with no manual at all.
