About the Author
Brette McWhorter Sember has authored one title and has coauthored three other Sphinx titles for the state of New York. She received her law degree from State University of New York at Buffalo. She practiced law in western New York for many years before becoming a freelance writer. She writes frequently about consumer law issues for magazines and websites from her home near Buffalo, New York.
Edward A. Haman received his bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and his law degree from the University of Toledo. He has practiced law in Florida, Michigan and Hawaii, and has served as a Michigan Circuit Court domestic relations hearing officer. He has written many self-help law books, including How to Write Your Own Living Will and How to File Your Own Bankruptcy.

Easy to understand and very helpful,

This book was so helpful. It explained the laws and my alternatives. Even though I ended up getting an attorney because my case was really complicated and nasty, I used the book to answer questions that came up. Being able to look at the forms in the book really helped me to understand what my attorney was doing

I bought this book and even though I used a lawyer it was great. I totally understood everything to expect and it did not seem so confusing. I really liked seeing what the forms are. The info about mediation would have helped me a lot if I ordered the book before we went to the lawyer. The advice about custody was so right.
